Trial of Ascendancy (Sorry, I know I'm by far not the first or hundredth to post)

I really enjoy the game. I'm having fun and I'm clearing content pretty easily EXCEPT THE G-DANG TRIAL. Every, SINGLE, TIME, I get close to completion some mystery mechanic kills me and I have to start all over. At least let me keep the trial token and go back to the beginning of the floor I was on. Holy Crap.
