Diablo 2's Loot is more satisfying
Level 80+, doing T10+ Maps and I really didn't get the drop that made me hooked. I'm not very lucky in terms of drops it seems, but I did drop a Divine, a Greater Jewlers, some nice Items I could trade for ~1 Div.
But it all really didn't make me feel anything. And what's even worse, it didn't give me the urge to try a different class. When I drop an Eschutas and a Vipermagi (or just lower level items that'll improve the class significantly while leveling), I put them on the side knowing that I'm gonna really enjoy making a sorc and leveling her up till I can finally equip these items. Here I've dropped countless worthless Uniques that, despite looking cool, really didn't give me any emotion whatsoever. If I were to go on a lonely island, I'd still pick D2 (preferably with mods) over this. It's not a bad game in the slightest, but when it comes to looting it's just not nearly as satisfying as the old king of ARPGs from 20 years ago. Last bumped on Jan 1, 2025, 7:15:22 AM

Diablo 1 loot was better than Diablo 2.
I could ramble on all the reasons why but it would do no good because apparently despite it's numerous flaws, Diablo 2 is some god gem to base every other ARPG around. "Never trust floating women." -Officer Kirac

You are misremembering Diablo 2.

" People should stop bringing out the same old and automatically disqualifying argument of "Nostalgia". No I am not misremembering it. Neither do the thousands of Project Diablo 2 players. The game still is among the best when it comes to loot spiral. A game that has bones that are nowadays considered ancient. I've played it on the switch a few months ago and nothing but that till I had several high level characters with strong builds. The moment I dropped my first Jah ever was crazy for me and brought me as close to SSF enigma than I ever was, especially considering my playtime of several thousand hours in the last 20 years of the games existence. PoE1/2 Diablo3/4 can't beat that. A Jah and Ber bring you closer to godhood in D2 than a Mirror in PoE2 and it is 700 Euros on RMT. All in consideration of SSF. Mirror in PoE2 is what, 1000 times more rare than a Zod in D2? You'd get a dozen Enigmas before dropping a Mirror in PoE2. And look what an Enigma would do for you in terms of motivation and character power. The only good thing would be selling the Mirror, fully stacking all classes. But dropping one is near impossible for a normal player. Which makes its rarity ridiculous compared to its usability, for SSF. And this pattern can be seen with all Currency. Dropping a Divine Orb is useless, you can reroll an item once, great. I'd rather drop an HR that I can socket into my item as an alternative, giving me a nice and useful runeword. Again, all this in consideration of having no trading and playing fully solo. Last edited by Rebexus#0298 on Jan 1, 2025, 6:42:44 AM

" Oh. Oh my. Are you seriously not aware that PD2's drop rates are multiple orders of magnitude higher than actual Diablo 2's ever were? Because "lmao" I actually played Diablo 2. I played a TON of D2, because it was my all-time favorite game when I was in high school and university. I had a full-Faith amazon and a 7-frame sorceress, and I was on the ladder twice. So I'm not at all trying to shit talk a game from 25 years ago which was light-years ahead of its competition and redefined what an RPG even was, I'm simply saying that you DO NOT accurately remember that game if you think the drops were great and you were constantly dropping exciting items. Just as one example: dropping a Zod rune. The absolute best chance you could possibly have of getting a Zod rune was Hell Baal, which was about a one in 3 million chance. An extremely skilled player with very good gear could average 4-4.5 minutes per run, including the time to make a new lobby. That comes out to over TWENTY-TWO YEARS of constantly running that one boss 24/7, never stopping to eat or take bathroom breaks, just to get an average of one Zod rune. So, like I said before: " |

And yet, I enjoy dropping stuff more in Diablo 2 than in hundreds of Maps of PoE2. But sure, I misremember wrong. It's funny how you cannot accept people having different opinions and preferences.
But hey, who am I to tell you to not tell me what to actually think and like. I mean I just played D2 recently myself. But yet, I "misremember" it. Because I have memory loss. Right? Last edited by Rebexus#0298 on Jan 1, 2025, 7:15:17 AM
