Infernalist Demon Form completely breaks with high max life reduction (~-89% onward).
Demonstration here: https://youtu.be/iyfHAGM6ATo After finishing my infernalist leveling, I decided to do some limit testing with demon form and found some strange results... I wanted to push my max life as low as possible to then use flat life regen mods to counteract the demonflame stacks using the following: Heavy Buffer Passive Node: -10% max life Couture of Crimson Body Armor: -25% max life Ming`s Heart Ring: -20% max life Ming`s Heart Ring: -20% max life Eye of Chayula Amulet: -24% max life (No helmet and regular gloves for the rest) This brings my max life modifier to a grand total of -99% max life. With my current level and gear, the result of this is my max life being 47. Now for the testing; My total life recovery per second is 78.1 (rare belt, rare boots, some small passives). This means that my total regen is 166.17% of my max life. On paper, this is great, this would mean that I am projected to reach 332 stacks of demonflame before it eclipses my regen and begins to drain my health faster than I can recover it (each flame is 0.5% max life/second). This is where things get weird... Rather than reaching 332 stacks, my life loss starts eclipsing my regen at ~85 stacks. 85 stacks of demonflame is equivalent to 42.5% of my max life. This is nowhere even close to the amount of stacks I should be able to reach. To do additional testing, I put on Mask of the Stitched Demon to get more regen: Swapping Eye of Chayula(-24%) for Carnage Heart(-20%), I raised total max life mod from -99% to -95%. This test also failed to hit projections: 96 max life vs 253.1 total life recovery per second resulted in ~260 out of the 527 stacks that I should be reaching. For another test, I swapped back to Eye of Chayula(-24%) and unallocated the Heavy Buffer Passive(-10%), bringing my total max life mod to -89%. Again, this test failed to hit projections: 164 max life vs 231.1 total life recovery per second resulted in ~245 out of the 281 stacks that I should be reaching. For another test, I reallocated the Heavy Buffer Passive(-10%), and took off one Ming's Heart(-20%) bringing my total max life mod to -79%. This time, results were actually consistent; (swapped gloves just to get regen>max life) 254 max life vs 258.2 total life recovery per second resulted in ~223 out of the 203 stacks, which is perfect, my life loss eclipsed my regen at exactly 203 stacks, but this raises a bigger question... What the hell is happening here? It seems like as max life goes lower and lower, the formula for life loss/regen just completely breaks. If I missed something in my test, or if I am unaware of some particular interaction, let me know. Video demonstration below: https://youtu.be/iyfHAGM6ATo Last bumped on Jan 1, 2025, 12:22:01 PM

i cant tell you why or whats wrong but what i can tell you is that a lot of CI builds ( = permanently 1 HP ) will still benefit from items that for example give "life as extra energy shield" as if they werent 1 hp
something about all these calculations is broken | |
One of the first things they fixed - https://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/3617298/page/1
So, basically going that low doesn't make sense. Last edited by Shadov1#6836 on Jan 1, 2025, 6:12:33 AM

Ah okay, I had missed that change, that pretty much adds up, thanks!
