Just remove death penalty for god's sake!
Even in this case you need to play 100500 maps to reach 100lvl.
Pro players will reach 100lvl and with penalty, but most of players - casuals...
This is not D4. Level 100 isn't a given, it is an achievement. Level 100 is not the start, it is the END of leveling. A couple passive points is not going to make or break an endgame build.
Casuals aren't intended to make it to level 100.
This is absolutely key.
Only a small amount of the player base will hit 100.
Only a small amount of the player base will hit 40 out of 40 challenges.
Only a small amount of the player base will beat +4 on any / all of Pinnacle Bosses.
Point three was expressed in different words a number of times by Jonathan Rogers. Pinnacle encounters and goals (level 100) is a MASSIVE achievement, never a given, never for a casual.
There are some POE 1 leagues that I play more casually, and don't manage to get close to 40 challenges or level 100. That is fine, I didn't play enough to achieve it.

On a seperate note. POE 2 has 'opened' up the game to allow for wider audiences and a more casual player base. The unfortunate piece in all of this, all of the core end game pillars and systems are for dedicated grinders. GGG will likely make tweaks, such as the level XP curve from 90+, but at the end of the day it is going to take time and dedication to get to the end game systems.
Unfortunately this isn't going to be a long-term game for everyone, and I am sorry if some of you were looking for a casual friendly ARPG that respected your time. If I am being honest, it is quite the opposite, the player is expected to interact with time-gated and time-syncing mechanics. There was no way you were achieving all the challenges in POE 1 without completing somewhere north of 600+ maps. This is a core pillar of this game, and the community of ARPG POE veterans absolutely FROTH IT.

If dying in a video game is too much for you to handle, I can't imagine the pain and the sorrow you suffer from losing an online argument.
Oh boy, this is what you think, right? You think i 'lost' an argument with you?
Yes, you lost it.
No, I don't need to stalk you to know who you are :
You are an angry person that hate losing. And as you just lost it, you fall into hate.
No, not everybody think and feel like you. Stop thinking they do. You just talk for yourself and no one else, ever.

Totally on your side. You sum it up really good. I think, nobody puts this in question.
If you die, there are effectively working mechanics that slow down your progression. If you lose a map item and the spice on the atlas map, you will face shortage of maps on the long run, by not killing the bosses that drop the necessary maps.
You will be forced to run low tier maps to regain high tier supply. There is no XP in clearing those maps to regain a level of self sustaining your maps. In my eyes, this is a very effective way in slowing down your progression caused by your deaths. If getting rid of xp loss, this map shortage could be worked on to hit harder.

Laughed when I've read it, because that wider audience is not who are complaining the most about PoE 2 not being as casual.

Yes, the GAME is more accessible to casuals, and also more enjoyable as an 'quick' adventure and challenge in itself.
No, the ENDGAME isn't for casuals, as it is and always will be a place for grinders, min-maxers, and achievement hunters, to sink and endless amount of time.
Casuals aren't supposed to go deep mapping, kill pinacle bosses, or reach level 100. But they are expected to finish 6 acts.

As someone who comes from PoE1: No, absolutely not. Map sustain and map drought back in the old days of PoE1 was one the most frustrating experiences you could ever have. The core gameplay loop, that is to say running maps, shouldn't be commodified. You shouldn't have to trade to continue running high tier maps.
And make no mistake, with how map sustain is right now, worsened by your suggestion, map trading will become a necessity. I do not want to see a return to those dark days.
PoE players: Our game has a wide diversity of builds.
Also PoE players: The [league mechanic] doesn't need to be nerfed, you just need to play a [current meta] build!
MFers found strength in their Afflictions. They became reliant on them. I am not so foolish.

No, those casuals are still in the campaign writing positive reviews on Steam after 20-40h playtime.

Fair enough, valid point. As i read this, flashbacks came back from this time, and you're right, this had an devastating effect on motivation.
