Improved Trade/Crafting suggestion.(SEMI-SSF)
Currently we are using crafting/trade just like POE 1 and there isn't much difference in the trade/craft systems.
Introduction of better mechanics i.e SEMI-SELF SOLO FOUND. With the current in-game trade/marketplace we are doing currency trading but if we add all gear bases and remove the trade site from equation. We create a self solo found style crafting system,where u can trade bases instead of crafted gear,Ideally having it by default is great in my opinion. 1.This will force people to craft their own gear. 2.To compensate re-balancing of crafting currency such as omens/essence/catalyst needs to be carefully increase to counter-act the trade,specially omens. 3.Will also need to provide additional tabs to accommodate the new system players will naturally want to store bases. (probably 2-3 normal tabs/dedicated storage like relic) 4.With these changes we can have in-game price checking within the game itself instead of relying on 3rd party tools. 5.This way all trading can be done in-game without the browser trade site/3rd party tools. For GGG : 1.Can control prices/drop rates of gear/currency and don't have to deal with bots. 2.Adding just gear bases to current trade system instead of full trading system in-game. 3.Can implement more mechanics for crafting within, like we have DIVINE FONTS in POE1. 4.Can twist crafting mechanics at will that will actually impact players and change them league to league. Final thoughts- Cons- Players might not take it at face value and expect heavy backlash from players but i believe in long term this is a much better solution. Hard to balance crafting currency(I believe GGG got this one in the bag). Pros- With semi-self solo found there will be unique experience to players with crafting. More unique builds will popup,it wont be just copy paste a build guide and get the gear on trade. Much more variables/mechanics can be included.

If implementing for all players is doubtful, can implement it as another mode just like ssf it will be SEMI-SSF.

Removing the ability of players to acquire specific pieces of gear, i.e. via trade, does not make "more unique builds pop up".
Instead, it almost completely removes any ability to actually create any build that cannot be played with white gear. Does your build require a build-enabling unique before it'll work? Too bad - you will never find that unique, EVER, no matter how common it may otherwise be. You cannot EVER depend on finding that item, so that build is forever denied to you. Same if your build needs specific gear affixes - you cannot guarantee getting those affixes, so that build is denied to you. You aren't getting rid of build guides with a system that disallows player trading, you're simply ensuring all build guides will be written for builds assuming the player is using white gear. Only those builds that can still function on white gear will work. The only possible way to eliminate build guides is to ban the entire Internet, and frankly even if that was possible it would be a shit idea. A post saying "look at this awesome build I made!" and someone excitedly showing off what they assembled is a 'Build Guide'; are you saying people shouldn't be excited to show off their creations? That everyone should play the game in absolute secrecy, never speaking about it to anyone else anywhere, ever, for fear of being labeled a 'Build Guide' and getting banned from the Internet? Of course not. Just let people do what they want to do. let them buy items if they're more interested in assembling a build than in Organically Finding Their Own Gear. Doesn't hurt you any. She/Her

No one plays builds on white gear,everyone craft with orbs in early league and on day 1 no one goes out buying 15exalt of gear on day 1.
And about rolling odds of affix on gear , that's exactly why we need to re-balance the omens/catalyst/essences so it will be much easier to roll affix you need on the build.The builds will not be unique in a sense those builds will differ as each and every player has different gear and different affixes which will result in slightly different builds. Having a build is not the problem but copying a build 1:1 is, having a slight variety/differences in gear will impact game-play differently,like if you need to roll +x levels on all/elemental skills and having mana/life gain on kill not everyone will have life/attributes on the gear at first try or getting them on trade. And unique maybe we do need some uniques on trade. |
