Ofc it has, i just wrote that, if you run Jungle valleys or Dunes all league long and someone else doesnt do the same youre automatically getting the upper hand on them, so everyone feels forced to do the same map layouts all league long, creating a dull and boring gaming experience, why should the devs bother making new maps if everyone runs the same 2 or 3 all league? And the image it passes for people outside that watch someone play is that it´s the same thing over and over, it IS bad for the game, games should have ups and downs, if it´s always up´s those up´s end up turning into downs/booring.
You don't have to like me last league. I bought Mageblood, Adorned, Voices. Stop with this forced bullshit.

I like the idea of exploring a map.
But there are things that can happen to make it more interesting.
GGG should look into playing Age of Wonders (1 and 2) and Civilization games to understand how to deal with this:
Make the endgame a 4k grand strategy game with a zoomed in perspective on combat being our own exploration of each node.
When we get to endgame, we could have random factions actively seeking something on the map, and we must outcompete them/build our own faction.
This could even make it a grander scheme if we could have a guild specific/shared atlas that is different from the single player one.
At the same time, environments should have specific enemy types, relating to these environments, as well as goals that we have to reach in each environment should be related.
Environments can and should change as we progress, but they must be gradual, not as it is today.
There is so much room for interesting things that can/could happen with this system.
I think they should really look into

I get the idea as I am familiar with those games, but do we REALLY need more micro management in the atlas than we already have? I think we should focus on making ARPG more ARPG.

Need to fix towers for minion builds as well... my minions refuse to move from one room to another half the time.

Hi, as we all know, tower maps are one of the least favourite in the endgame. People are just dropping level 1 waystones to speedrun it, activate, and move on. The reasons are multiple (bad layout, no events, lack of visibility, etc.).
Instead of complaining about it, I want to put in a bit of effort and suggest some changes. Here are the key points, with more details at the end:
- Map layout should be inside the tower. There should be 3-4 circular levels with stairs to the next level (kind of like The Sceptre of God map in PoE1, but more open and without doors please..) The number of mobs should be similar to or greater than a normal map to avoid feeling like you're wasting high-tier waystones.
- The last level should just be a boss arena. If that's not possible due to bosses requiring a specific tileset, a special rare enemy with boss-like HP and one extra mod will do. Beating the boss activates the tower.
- The tower should grant more vision.
- Precursor tablet as currency for opening the tower along with the waystone. This way, the tower gains the same effects of the tablet for the first try. If you die, the tower loses the tablet effect. If you beat the boss (at any attempt), the tablet effects are applied.
- Irradiated towers count as +2 to the map level. If you fail, as mentioned before, you lose the irradiated effect and cannot apply it again. Otherwise, people will purposefully fail the map at the end to run it again. Corrupted irradiated towers will be level 83 maps.
In general, make the towers more interesting and the layout less annoying to give us a reason to drop a T16 on a tower.
Make Towers Great Again.
I think most would agree Towers badly need a redesign. My concern with your suggestion of several floors is that if you make the layout longer and GGG dont do a good job of it, we would end up with a worse situation than now. At least now you can chuck in a white map and blow past the thing.
What about the following idea. Each tower offers the player two doors when you get to it. Door 1 leads you to fight all the bosses you have fought since the last tower again in sequence. Door 2 leads to a new version of a map a bit like what we have now (but more open). If you know which option you are going to take it will impact what level of waystone you put in for the map (a higher level map for the boss fights, lower level for option 2). Once completed both options allow fog of war to recede and a precursor tablet to be placed as currently. The key thing is thet player gets to choose between something good (door 1) or something less rewarding but quick (door 2). That choice is vital because the Towers repeat so often on the map.

There has also been some discussion on the issue of the atlas as a "grand strategy" game, and which maps should be in the Atlas in this thread.
On the "turn the atlas into a strategy game" idea, I just don't think GGG have the resources to do that well now given all the things they have on their plate to do before launch.
On the issue of maps in the atlas I agree that players should not have to run map layouts we do not like doing repeatedly, as we are forced by the current design. I have explained an idea to deal with in this thread:

Thats my problem, thats the most boring part, I dont want to do a chore, I want to do something interesting while running the tower. When I say 3-4 circle maps, I dont mean the size of a normal map, all 3 zones together to be the size of a normal map, and you should be able to run to the stairs and skip it if you want, even faster than now probably, the point is to give a reason to kill mobs and even have events in the tower.

Don't know if thas has been suggested already, but:
Make sure the tablets inserted influence maps directly around the tower. It is just another incredibly annoying thing to watch when I influence a tower with a nice tablet and the maps it selects to add my mechanic of choice are so far removed from the actual tower that most of them are within the fog of war. Why !?
