Saying poison is pointless, because lighting deadeye is OP, is understandable. After all, we are missing cold/poison bow skill gems. But p.coc is bug abuse and shouldn't be seen as a balance concern.
Poison Burst is garbage compared to Gas Arrow. Gas arrow stacks poison faster, across a wider area and continuously on bosses while you are using toxic growth or anything else for more damage. Hopefully you're not simply applying poison and then running around in circles. Toxic Growth and/or Rain of Arrows is an almost mandatory supplement, and arguably dev intended to make the playstyle high dps. Also, don't neglect "damaging ailments deal damage % faster", which is the only affix that can push poison damage beyond the dps:stack cap. It's on the tree and is a possible gem suffix. Poison damage can scale from +% chaos damage. But it must come pre conversion (20% phys hit + 20% chaos hit = base poison magnitude). To make this approach even remotely viable, the Cultist Bow would need prefixes that give +% chaos damage and adds # to # chaos damage. Then maybe the +% chaos damage nodes would make up for the +% physical damage nodes. This might be cool because you could go hybrid with Witch skills/curses to bring alive the cultist theme. |
