Monk strange early levelphase 1-14

"

Staggering Palm is bad, and therefore, the typical monk thing to do is to use that evil strike to apply a hunter's mark, and a node to convert that mark to something useful.

Lingering Illusion costs 30 Spirit and is a very reliable way of generating Power Charges.

Specifically, it needs some physical attacks later. Past a certain point, everything is cold, lightning, or chaos. Which sucks.

God no. It needs more Chaos and less elemental crap. There are TWO(2) Chaos-tagged skills for quarterstaff, both of which are gimmicks. Frost/Lightning/Physical are all well-defined.
No, it definitely needs more physical. More chaos as well (both early and late), sure. But it needs some later physical stuff, because while it gives you a few early, it then decides to just be almost entirely cold and lightning.
One halfway measure could include incentivizing hitting the Bell with Physical/Chaos. A purely Physical hit could grant improved daze/stun/armorbreak. I'm genuinely surprised the Bell doesn't propagate Marks/Curses when directly struck by Hand of Chayula.

I'm playing Chalupa atm and I agree. Chaosmonk is an interesting premise but the EA game simply lacks actual support for the class (for now).

I'm not having any issues playing lightning Invoker but would like to play chaos monk/Chayula but there's not near enough chaos support on the tree and what is there is a far walk on the tree

It kinda needs both, imo. I don't like Flickering and I also don't like roleplaying a melee class but using ranged and spells. And, well, spells seem to be the only way to derp around with chaos, unless there's some unique that converts phys to chaos that is. Also poison, but chasing poison nodes all over the passives tree feels... unproductive.

Drop a chaos melee quarterstaff attack on the Chayula ascendancy and we're getting somewhere. I tried going for poison on one playthrough and it was underwhelming. Scale chaos, scale phys, scale poison, maybe remember defenses...

For now, it kinda looks like if one wants to play melee bell-tossing monk, elemental damage seems to be the only reliable option.
