honor is the dumbest mechanic and the fact that they brought it over from poe1 knowing how unpopular it was
ppl need to get fired for this idea.
while they tried to make amends with the honor resistence. its just stupid still and punishing for the sake of being annoying

People won't leave because of the one stupid mechanics (you still can gain all your point in ultimatum). They will not engage in it and it will be either reworked or completely removed from the game.
Lets have constructive criticism:
1. losing all honor should not fail the trial, but give player some major disadvantage (but no BS)
2. honor should recharge at the start of every floor (as a reward after defeating the floor boss)
3. rooms and number of spaned enemies must be hand crafted to support dodge rolling
4. bosses should not have on death effects, especially in sanctum
5. its not a good experience when you have to fight 2 bosses at once (2nd floor), to any of the bosses to have AOE that covers half the arena

while its true that there are two ways to get your ascendency....the ultimatum route is so much more punishing that its ridiculous imo

True, but there is nothing fundamentally wrong with ultimatum, that would make it not fun after som balance changes in monster power level, their density and pool of possible debufs (unlike sanctum, where simple balance changes of this kind won't be enough for it to be long term fun, in my opinoin).
At this moment ultimatum is just very poorly balanced (some even speculate (I think DM or TalkativeTri said it), it feels like direct port from POE1).

I just lost a 5th attempt due to slow, unavoidable honor chipping. I had about 12 afflictions stacked on me by the time I hit 3rd test, making pathing basically a guessing game. Second boss fight left me with about half honor, since I am a Sunder Titan and avoiding all damage in that fight is impossible. So first room I get chipped down due to a rare mod with temporal bubble. Second room I got further chipped down due to it being a gauntlet trial I hadn't run yet so I got a little lost and cornered by enemies while hunting for the exit. Got to the 3rd room, an Hourglass trial, with about 860 honor of 3.8k left. Trial starts, immediately getting knocked around by the jumping worms. Big worm rare mob spawns, has temporal bubble and aoe fire burst. Fire doesn't do much damage to my health, but deletes 600 of my 800 honor. Worms take the rest. You might think "well kill them then!" but alas, how? My clear ability, Stampede, is my fastest attack and takes a full second to go off, during which I have to stand still or I cancel the attack. My boss killer, Sunder? 2.78 second attack time. Nearly 3 entire seconds. And I can't reduce that, at all. Tooltip says so. I am forced to take the hits in order to do damage to clear the rooms. And MAYBE I could manage to do that, if I didn't also have to contend with an RNG hellscape that seems designed by sadists. Every single trial I have started has hit me with afflictions right off the bat. I have followed the guides and tried to keep my options open on pathing to maximize my chances of avoiding bad affliction stacks, but IT. STILL. HAPPENS. Remember, I had 12 goddamn afflictions on me during my 5th run. I couldn't path effectively because I couldn't see what the hell the rooms had in them. Absolutely NONE of the issues I ran into during my 5th attempt could be solved by skill or knowledge. My loss was due to extremely poor game design masquerading as "difficulty"
Mind you, I didn't get close to dying at all during that fight. But my defenses mean absolutely nothing, because they aren't the RIGHT defenses I should have picked to use. I have over 10k armor, 77% phys damage reduction, and all resistances capped with 33% chaos res, but that only translates to 3.7k honor? And yes, I have honor res capped at 75%. Even with the 35% reduction, the mob types and their attacks still manage to rapidly chip away at honor and I simply cannot avoid it all the time, by the nature of my build. That is not how a path to ascendency should be. I shouldn't have to run it with a specific build just for that, especially given the investment and time that would take to achieve. I am sorry to those who take pride in having already done it, but it is horribly unfair to a lot of players, and I would rather more people be having fun that stoking the ego of an elite few.

I agree it's unfair (maybe even bugged in some cases) and must (and based on feedback probably will be) changed.
Something similar happened to me. Fought 2 bosses on floor 2. Had very hard time to notice theirs AOE (as summoner Infernalist, there is very poor visual clarity and my usual tactics to stay as far away from the bosses had absolutely no effect given their AOE travels over half the arena). But I managed to end the fight with 2000 honor out of 3000. But then some on death effect covering 2/4 of the arena started happening and event thou I was outside the AOE ring, my honor dropped to 300 and on next floor the first room was smaller than my screen and having more enemies than space :D. Some very strange choices went to these trials. But its important to give feedback and not give up.
