A worst endgame experience than Diablo 4

I can't believe how bad the endgame is compared to the campaign. It is so bad in fact that I'd much rather reinstall Diablo 4 which I deleted thinking this was going to be THE ARPG. It's just not there yet and I'm sad to say I don't know if it will be. I Hope GGG cooks up this game as the master piece it should be but if this is the foundation ( a lot of bad game design ) I am left unsure about the replayability of it.

Games shouldn't make me feel like ill end up wasting my time but this one is one of the very few where that is the case. I want to sink so much time into it but I know it will be more punishing than anything.

I can only hope for the games success moving forward and play the campaign exclusively because the current direction of endgame is horrid.

I leveled through the campaign. had really fun. got to mapping and i keep alt f4:ing. it just feels pointless
I mean they kinda admitted that the endgame was rushed, initially it was supposed to have no endgame - they changed their mind around august afaik, forgoing A4-6 in favor of adding some endgame. This is EA lots IS gonna change
Farming salt on the forums since 2024
Didn't GGG say they cooked this endgame within 2 months?
So yea its tragically bad & rushed.

But if you enjoyed the campaign, thats a good sign you'll probably enjoy the game when it gets a full release.
They'll cook up a real endgame by then, hopefully something of the same quality as the campaign if not better.

For now though, this endgame is not worth wasting your time in.
I enjoyed the campign and it made me wonder what is going to happen next. this is a good thing.

However, endgame is literally wasting my time. I spent hours to level up and kept dying and stucked at the same level. I just kept going backwards. I tried to be better but death reasons are just some random dudes cahrging at me outside of my screen and one shot me. Or some smoke obstructs my vision and I cannot see the debufs on the ground because they are invisible. I lose my maps, i lose my loots, i lose xp and i lose my time. my luck was not good on crafting. done many maps and not got a single good loot. unable to trade items because cannot afford them.

Right now, for me at least, game is unplayable. i cannot waste more of my time.
A calm and reasonable person.

D4, to their credit at least don't make you slog through the same campaign every single time you create a character, there's no exp penalty which displays a total disregard for the player's time, they are adding armory for quick build switching soon (It's almost like they understand it's a GAME and should be FUN). So, there's that.

Plus the end game has gotten progressively better every single season since release. There's actually quite a bit to do now.

I was looking forward to bouncing between both in the leagues/seasons. But, I'm not sure I want to slog through the campaign in POE 2 every single time I try a new build. That's nuts.

No, they didn't.

A lot of people seem to have misunderstood that statement. They never said they started working on endgame 2 months ago, they said they switched most developers over to endgame 2 months ago. That doesn't mean they started working on it then, it just means they started prioritizing it more then. They'd been working on it since way before that, it just wasn't the main priority until 2 months ago.
Imagine putting your developers on endgame after flipping the first half of the game assets and then making players slog through the content twice to get to it to even SEE WHAT IT INCLUDES.

Wait, are we talking about POE 1... or POE 2?

Oh, nvm... same issue.

I feel extremely disappointed in the fact that Path of Exile 2 builds turned out looking like PoE1 builds so quickly after launch.

The promise that the game would feel different (slower?) compared to PoE1 is valid only for the first 3 Acts of the Campaign and only if you don't know what you are doing.

Engaging combat (the biggest promise) is non-existent once we reach Endgame or even before that - during Cruel Acts, once we have our build online.

Plenty of builds have screen-wide map clear while also trivializing Boss encounters. I don't think this is a healthy thing for the game so early on.

I strongly hope GGG Devs re-consider where the game is headed, if this is it's state a little more than 2 weeks after launch.

I thoroughly enjoyed the exploration part (both world and character build) during my first 1-3 Acts. The game felt more difficult and this directly leads to player engagement, if tuned right, which I feel it has been.

Once I had an OP build clearing full screens and killing every Boss first try (Cruel and going into Maps) the interest in my character and the game plummeted. Now, I prefer starting a new character just because that campaign part felt so good. But starting a new character every time after a ~30-50 hour playtrough has little replayability

I am unsure wether the current state of Cruel and Endgame is due to the fact both of these weren't planned for Dec 6th launch and are content that was rushed or wether it is a conscious decision by GGG. To me they need tuning. I would much prefer a game where the combat doesn't lose its engagement as I progress through the game.

But then how do you make character power being relevant?
How do you have difficult content but also making player's character feel strong at the same time?
I think the answer lies in how the Campaign and Acts 1-3 are tuned. There are constant "tides", back and forth, between your character feeling like complete shit and attaining power (through a Skill/Support Gem, Gear, Passive Points) and again losing that power once you progress through a zone or Act. It's a constant back and forth, losing and gaining character power and I think this is a great recipe for replayability if its tuned in a way that is not monotonous. Add variation in the "duration" or "key zones" or "gear drops" with which your character loses/gains/loses power and you fix that issue.

Another fix could be scaling monster hp/defences more, as you progress further into Cruel and Endgame. This can potentially remove the ability of one-shotting full screens of monsters or bosses. Eventually, this could lead into player's having to actually fight the monsters in a more engaging manner or coming up with even more interesting build/skill combinations.

I think Path of Exile 2 is a great game that can become even better before it's official release date. I want to continue playing it for years to come!

Thank you so much!

Yeah, there might be something wrong with you since that's the part most people don't like at all.

Having to play through the same campaign over and over and over.
