Bad trading system is literally in the mission statement
Read it here: https://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/2025870
They list the reasons why they don't want trading between players to be easy. Most people coming to PoE 2 will never have played Path of Exile. They won't know all the arcane trading systems and won't care. They'll find something easier. History lesson: Diablo 2 was a great aRPG with one of the worst trading systems ever conceived. People created a new forum with its own currency to facilitate easy trading between players. Honestly, that saved Diablo 2 and kept it relevant for years. The same thing will happen again if they don't provide a simple and convenient way to trade in game. Last edited by Mouser#2899 on Dec 24, 2024, 2:40:50 AM Last bumped on Dec 26, 2024, 1:31:08 PM

I'd actually stick around for the end game of PoE2 in the final game if it had a modern trading system. I really disagree with most of what they say and even this year, they outlined a potential system they could make to buy items (using gold to limit it a little), though I heard they scrapped that idea.
Its really unfortunate how PoE insists on not just having this ridiculously dated trading but also to not offer an alternative way of playing. |

GGG is an incredibly stubborn company. They create something, and it’s like, "This is my child, and even if it’s ugly, you have to accept it as it is." The trading system has always been terrible and heavily criticized, but they refuse to change it. Even the lowest-budget MMO has an auction house where you can buy and sell instantly, without wasting two hours whispering people trying to buy what you need.
The same thing happens across the board. Last Epoch has a solid foundation with skill trees, a trading system, and an amazing built-in loot filter system, but GGG doesn’t seem to have learned anything from them. 2024 Activo.

" I'd very much like that alternative way. Whatever it'd be like. I heard good things of Last Epoch, but then, I heard that game is partially made by people that were involved in PoE as well. The reason I'm here is that I like slower gameplay. I have fond memories of D2, not of horrid online trade, but of using poison clouds and feeling like that was a valid way of playing the game instead of just gimping myself for the sake of it. PoE2 has pretty nice core gameplay, despite all the other stuff. People will always find the shortest way to success. Players will always optimize the fun out of the game, but in this case, I completely fail to see that fun in the first place. Trading, as it is, is a necessity; I've never met any non-poe-dev person that liked it. Zaanus:

Poe needs the good bit of the console marketplace (the async escrow). It's already coded into the game and would be more or less perfect for what people are asking for

New player here. Nothing has put me off more than the trading system and the fact that if you want any decent gear you have to use it. I have no idea what is valuable to other classes and if I want to know I have to go outside the game and use dropdown menus. The time taken to do this I just wont put in. I want to play a game not have a part time job.

"i like the current trade system, especially after the addition of faust. i wouldn’t want any changes. |

" D2's extended life was actually extremely niche and made no money compared to something like WoW but yeah. |

"too hard, back to fifa. |

I did not say it was hard, but it is boring and an out of game experience. Just my opinion, no need to be a child about it.
