I don't know how much of a difference breaking armor makes (even ignoring overbreak), but warriors are well placed for that while monks aren't so much.
That might be why maces seem a bit worse, perhaps.
Also, warriors can stack 4 totems in one spot and aoe the crap out of everything like they're a ranged build, if they want to, while still being a mace build.
Icemonks explode whole screens with shattering Palm --> Ice Strike (+Herald of Ice). One is a "blink" that brings you directly to the enemies the other is basically your default attack.
Also... Monks (usually) do elemental damage, so breaking armour? Why...
Its a pain for chonks that try to lean into the physical damage route, but otherwise, yeah.
Bonus, one of the better Invoker nodes makes your crits ignore elemental resist, so half of your attacks go through for full damage.

Imho IceMonk is so braindead, it actively annoys me while playing it.
Or maybe its just endgame damage scaling, well, not really edngame. The 2 builds I played to maps started feeling too strong/braindead in early Cruel and due to monster damage scaling way more than their HP the game just feels more and more volatile the further I get...

My lightning monk's doing pretty well, but that's because letting Flicker Strike take the wheel never gets old. Balancing Charged Staff and not dying because of my poor defenses (haven't gotten my resists capped despite doing t11 maps with him. >.>; ) is neat. Bosses that don't melt I get to siphon strike for charges.
Can't wait for a greater Jeweler to drop so I can make the power charge from Reaper + Profane instant and just hold down the button.
