Don't Kill the Thrill: Keep Item Rarity Alive!

yo listen up.......

item rarity is like the spice of life in PoE2 ya feel me?
it’s that sweet thrill when u see that gold beam of loot light up ur screen.
nerfing it? nah man that kills the vibe.

rarity makes grinding worth it. like why else we farming mobs for hours? its the dream of a big drop. u nerf that.... it’s like killing hope ...

and look its not OP.....
- u still gotta build for it
- sacrifice stats
- play smart

it’s a choice not free candy. u wanna min-max for rares?
cool but u lose damage or defense.
fair trade, imo.

so yeah keep item rarity spicy.
nerfing it just makes the grind feel like a deadend. Nobody wants that in a loot game.

If classes were rebalanced to the point where there was closer parity of damage projection, crowd control, gear affix pressure, defense [mitigation+avoidance+recovery] then I would tend to agree.

Right now there is a big discrepancy though in those stats. It's revealing when 85% of the tree is composed of four ascendancies that generally have good damage projection, crowd control and LOWER affix pressure on gear.

I would be just as happy with removing "player" rarity and just buffing loot drops for everyone across the board.

No. remove item rarity from the game.
its bad design.
You shouldnt get rewarded for making your character weaker.
You should get rewarded for beeing able to build a strong character that can do hard content
At this point of the game, if you are not running with rarity on your build, you are at a very very very insane disadvantage.
This is not good

Well put. As it stands I think item rarity from equipment NEEDS to go for the sake of the game. Magic find builds also erode the league economies super fast which is a buzzkill for many players.

I tend to agree. It's telling when out of the highest XP characters 85% of those are in four ranged ascendancies that can better afford to make those sacrifices because damage + CC generally makes the tradeoff worth it.
Another case of "the system is so badly tuned that I support the shoddy work-around".

Nah, just fix the system.
nice try to keep up feeding RMT/bots infestastion. I feel like I'm playing some crypto/web3 shit.

MF affecting currency is a huge mistake.

Those are two sides of the same coin.
You can do hard content? Good, get rewarded.
You can do that same hard content but with a weaker character? Great, get rewarded more.

In theory, yes. In reality, the classes aren't balanced in a way that makes them equally-able to spec into magic find (due to affix pressure). Here is a good video that goes into why (and why as a result MF is broken right now):
