PLEASE HELP I don't understand this Game..
I had used a ranger with a bow and I never used bow shot except first two levels, and then just switched to others skils, complete ditched and removed bow shot.
Now I'm on mercenary same thing but I can't use skills without crossbow shot?! Am I missing something please help, it won't show my DPS on any skills except crossbow shot.. Last bumped on Dec 21, 2024, 5:01:28 PM

Your bow/crossbow attack or any other skill provided by your weapon is a "skill" in itself. You can find it on the top of the skill list. You can use it or not, it's your choice.
- it levels with you (including number of supports, by the endgame it might be your only one with 4 slots) - it costs no mana (even with supports) - it's relatively weak but can be made rather powerful (depends on the stats of the weapon) - you can ignore it completely, as a compliment to other skills, as a trigger for some mechanics, to finish of low-hp mobs etc. In-game DPS indicators are scuffed for now, always have been in PoE, don't look at them. Use the skill and see how it feels to determine its power. Ascend with precision.

Poe G to open the hem menu and there you can see the DPS of your various skills. There's a little arrow by the DPS number that opens a panel with detailed information.

I think this may confuse some people new to the Merc class.
The merc crossbow skills do not "fire" the crossbow in the same way that e.g. lightning arrow shoots the bow. The merc crossbow skills load different clips of ammo into the crossbow, and then they all share an attack button. Using my bindings as an example: - As ranger, I press q to shoot some lightning rods immediately. - As merc, I press q to load galvanic shot rounds, then left click shoots them. I can equally press e to load fragmentation rounds, or r to load high velocity, either of which would also be fired by the same left click button. Whichever I loaded last is the one that shoots. |
