As I have posted in my other thread, simple fix for now is to disable multithreading for the duration of zoning. This will fix 99% of all freezes now and not hurt performance (aside from adding a little bit to loading time).

It is not multithreaded, it is the current Windows 11 24h2 update.... I had the 23H2 update until a few days ago and then installed 24h2. After that, it crashed and the PC rebooted. Now I have reinstalled clean Windows and stayed on 23H2 and everything is great again.. It has also been confirmed that the current Windows update is causing problems in many games.

" Not it's not confirmed to be windows, there are 4+ long threads in the other forum about this and there have been at least 20+ replies confirming the exact opposite - that reverting to 23H2 does not eliminate the freezes. Since the freeze is completely random, you could simply be having a good streak after the reinstall and not encountered one yet. It's also grossly irresponsible to say the current windows update is causing problems in other games, because although there are compatibility issues, there is NOT ONE case of freeze causing computer reset in any other game. Please stop muddying the water by providing unfounded claims. There are many extremely long and detailed threads about this issue and the ONLY fix so far is to disable multithreading, and so the problem lies strictly within the game and with the multithreading implementation. |

Prozessor - Multithreading is the Problem i have test it with Clanmembers all have the same and it work but i hope GGG fix it soon

" Not saying it's not a problem for u, but multithreading works just fine for me. No crashes or performance problems at all. So there's definitely more to the problem than just multithreading. PoE2 0.4 Character:

The question is:
a) Crashes on AMD non-X3D b) Crashes on AMD X3D c) Crashes on AMD in general d) Crashes on Intel Non-Perfomance/Efficiency Cores e) Crashes on Intel Performance/Efficiency Cores f) Crashes on Intel in General This is what needs to be found out, to pin-point the root cause. Some say it is way more of a problem on AMD X3D platforms compared to any Intel Platform. I have a 7800X3D and I have random crashes with multithreading enabled. Mostly during intensive fights, never during standstill moments. It seems the moment that calculations start for damage and etc. the game will have an increased freeze risk. I must commend GGG though, they thought this might happen IMO, as most of the times, when I join back, the game is "Paused" during a boss fight, so I have never lost any progress during or due to a crash, extremely respectable! It's not just on X3D, I have a 5600 and I crash all the time, sometimes twice in an hour, sometimes as frequently as immediately logging in after a crash. But sometimes it doesn't crash at all for a whole day. This is why it's such a thorny thing to diagnose, because some people can change a setting, and then "miraculously" not have any crash for a day, and they come here to post that they "fixed" the issue. I was fooled to think all kinds of solutions "fixed" my issue until the crashes came back at a later time.
There are people who aren't experiencing crashes, so it's obviously a case with certain PC hardware/software setups. But it is by now been thoroughly tested to be related to multithreading - because all of those who have this issue can reliably fix their issues by disabling multithreading. But disabling it all the time is not a solution due to performance hit, so why can't GGG add an option to automatically disable it only during zoning? It will be the biggest QoL change they can add and it'd be a relatively small thing to add on their end. If the plan is to take a Xmas break (and you deserve it too), why not enable this temporary fix so people can actually play the game during the holidays? |

I have a 5800X3D and like I said, no issues at all. I got some crashes with DX12 tho after playing for a few hours. Switching to Vulcan fixed it.
I'm on Win10 btw. PoE2 0.4 Character: https://poe.ninja/poe2/profile/Sadaukar-2191/character/Sadaukar_Vaal OS: CachyOS (Arch Linux btw. <3) Last edited by Sadaukar#2191 on Dec 21, 2024, 10:16:05 AM
