Hit Jamanra and literally rerolled immediately
Lightning Monk! Melted all stages until I hit Jamanra and can literally not get him down past 3/4 health. I mean, I'm sure I could beat him if I played it safe and went at it for literally 45 minutes but that is so miserable when one small mistake will end up with me dead. Before getting to the boss, I went and got rares for most of my slots, spent money at shops upgrading.
For whatever reason, I have low lightning resist (unequipped all items and have -15% resistance, no idea where that's from??) so that makes it even worse. But the worst part is no damage! I swapped to all ice skills to hopefully get around the lightning resist but no luck there. I don't want to play through with a hyper optimized leveling guide, and I also feel like I'm not doing SUPER poorly at my build since it's crushed everything so far with no problems in the slightest. Until the boss gets tuned, IDK if I'm going to play that monk anymore, which sucks major booty because I Was having so much fun with him! i'm a lightning monk too. gear makes a huge dif. imagine if you found a good staff? happened to me and he became really easy. otherwise the fight would take a long long time and i would run out of flasks.
consider just trying to find a better staff or craft from some good blues. i got my staff maybe from a vendor and turned it into a rare and then exalted.... so dont give up. it's a good fight as a monk. just have to keep avoiding stuff and be patient. |

and yes if i didn;'t get a better staff the fight would be super hard. and maybe i would have died 10 more times . who knows. so just the gear itself would help you a lot. my rings also had added attack damage too. " |

add more tempest bells lol
I melted all the bosses with a regaled npc staff on a melee lightning witch so surely having an actual ascendancy would do wonders... >build encounters issues >i don't want to change anything it's not my build cmon you get resistance penalty per act or something uniques in most slots sounds awful am I eating the bait right now? | |
I didn't mean uniques, I meant rares. I guess I only played through POE 1 two or three times, but am I wrong that it's wild to have a boss just be almost entirely immune to the damage type I randomly picked to spec into because it was fun? I easily went through the trials or whatever and went into the invoker tree. IDK what more you want from me

Jamanra never gave any of my lighting monks issue. He was more a pain on my warrior, especially before the Armor break duration buff. Monks are fortunately mobile and quick attacking enough that I can dodge around the hits.
Lightning resist is definitely a helpful requirement. Wear a lightning resist charm for the fight. Get any lightning resist rings you can. Make sure you pick up the lightning resist buff from Spires for the free 10%. |

" I did him on lighting Monk like yesterday. Just get good weapon and you will be ok. I got mine from vendor, throw 2 runes on it and it was more than enough. I dont know how you build your tree by i just go crit+attk speed+ like 1 lighting cluster. He is not immune to dmg, nothing in this game truly is. |

Can I ask how much DPS you're at with tempest flurry? Right now, it says it's at about 500 DPS. What should I be aiming for? IDK how I can get it much higher, I have damage boosting rings and a level 30 staff with +60% physical damage on it

" I will tell you in an hour once im home but im in act 3 now so it wont help. Dont look how much staff increases, look how much dmg it does. You may have 60% but on low base. Lighting monk is one of the best dps in game you know. |

" Is it a crackling staff per chance? :P Look at the vendor in the caravan if they've got a crackling staff with any good modifiers. You'll want added lightning damage, increased elemental damage, crit, attack speed, or melee skill level. Put two lightning runes in it, maybe regal it if you're feeling spicy. Edit: 500 feels low, though. Not sure what I was at that level though. What support gems so you have in Tempest? Attack speed, extra final strike, and the lightning damage ones were my choice. Use siphoning strike to get power charges every time you shock Jamanra and then slam those into powering Charged Staff. Last edited by Amorencinteroph#4321 on Dec 21, 2024, 12:00:35 AM
