Infernalist Demon form dodge ineffective when surrounded post dodge patch (stuck, trapped)

The demon form dodge is inferior to the regular roll when surrounded by enemies. GGG said that dodge was improved to allow a chance at being able to get away when surrounded but there is no such mechanic in demon form.

This is inconsistent and frustrating.

The decompose on step boots don't work in demon form because you're flying, ok, that makes sense if you're going for literal interpretation.

But, your ability to get unstuck while flying is worse than... rolling through enemies?

Please make the demon form dodge able to escape being surrounded.


I can understand not being able to cast on step while flying but an inferior dodge is extremely inconsistent. It feels bad, it makes the game feel bad, and it allows no room for error.

I agree I started the demon form last night and was extreamly frustrated when small mobs blocked me and I died.... why would this form be worse than normal dodge roll
Having the same issue - whatever the size 0 changes they made to the normal dodge roll haven't been applied to the shapeshifting form.

Super frustrating - easily the number 1 reason I end up dying with this character.
I'd like to further suggest that being caught in sand pits is another inconsistency. Cast on step doesn't work but flying above quicksand pulls you in? Which one is it, am I stepping in quicksand or am I flying so step doesn't work?
