Trials has nothing to do in the game.

Hello,

Just finished my third trial and, same at the 2 first one, it felt unfair, not fun, vague and frustrating.

It felt like a game in the game poorly executed and annoying.
I m sorry if there is someone in the dev' team so attached to this to think that it 'll be better in PoE 2 than in PoE 1 but I think it's actually worse, which is some kind of achievement by itself :D.

Don't get me wrong, I really love the game <3, and I did the trial but... It was painful and not fun, and I do not play PoE2 to play some kind of weird plateformer hide in my hack'n'slash especially with such bad designed as honour mechanics. Just did for 1 char and I really don't want to do it for another.

Again, I really think the game is great in most aspect, but this trial just need to disapear completely, imo. At least, this kind of trial.

Yeeah that's what is gonna happen in the first league if trials are still in lmao(especially if 3rd trial is ToTA then it will be even more cringe)
+1 I can not agree enough with OP. Please listen GGG....

I can not imagine playing POE2 (which I love) with these trials, I do not want to see 2 years of you hanging on to them and trying to tune them. It is way 2 much and not fun at all.

The Trials themselves are completely opposite of what I enjoyed about the POE2 campaign, where the POE2 campaign was hard but fair and clear progession was kept.

The Trials are gatekeeping, do not ensure progession and totally opposite of what the rest of the game is and forces my character to play in a certain way I specifically did not build it for.

To be honest, I didn't enjoy them in Path of Exile 1, and I don't enjoy them now.

I have to get out of the way of the main quest and story, just to be a rat in a maze. It's tedious, frustrating and lame.

Lame you say? Yes. I don't mind having a challenge to get something better, but I feel like I am playing a mini-game on mobile besides the "real" game in order to advance. Why not incorporate it in the main story in some kind of way, perhaps? No... If you just scrap it, - I - won't miss it. I can't speak for everyone. But...

Actually yes, they all seem to do it.

Aha! Yes, they do, but that does not mean it is good. They do it because it is needed. It causes frustration instead of enjoyment. Enjoyment sells, frustration does not.

I know. Sorry to interrupt. You are right. But is it not even better if you don't have to make the whole better by producing something bad at first, so people can enjoy something better after, but instead make something nice, that helps people enjoy something even more? (-1 -> 0 is worse than 0 -> 1, or even 1 -> 2, you see?)

I almost think there is a team or part responsible for implementing the idea and I feel sorry for them to make something out of this... The idea of ascending is not implemented well into the whole. It exists as a separate thing I'd rather avoid. I know, it sucks, but I'd rather have a story about saving a lost Vaal princess and be blessed (and Ascend!) than to continue to torture myself to do another Takeshi's castle wipe-out.

Also, no offense here. Just a plain old mind-dump.
I don't think they'll remove it. There are already a lot of topics, complaints and player advice on how to improve it.
In the recent patch, they tried to improve it, but it practically doesn't change the situation.
These ascension challenges are just awful.
Before the patch, I made about 15 passes on the 3rd challenge with a melee character, but I still couldn't pass it
Now I have a terrible aversion to this content, that even after the patch I don't want to go there.
Completing a trial should be balanced toward an average build, not top of the line maxed out one.

It should be a fun and a BIT challenging game mechanic that allows players to get the ascendancy they want, not an endgame punishing activity where you need to be overleveled by 20, have a perfect build and use the perfect combination of relics.

ALSO all trials should be available at the same char level through out the campaign, the point is to have a choice is which trial to use for your ascensions, not be forced into a particular one or wait until you are overleveled/perfected your build to do it.
They need to get rid of the trials period. Just make them a series of quests.
So here i am trying for the fourth time to get my last ascendency points, i finally get to last floor with decents boons and 40%ms. And the game crashes, telling me the terrain generator is out of sync with the server, and i have to make another instance!
I dont mind working a bit for my ascendancy, but loosing it to some bug or whatever ?
Oh and i play melee, fun times really
