Frostbolt damage much too weak - Mektul fight impossible

I have adjusted skill gems (Considered Casting, Concentrated effect, Arcane Tempo) and have +2 to cold spells for an effective level of 13 on the Frostbolt.

I can't get Mektul to even 50% health before the lava closes in, this is without wasting any time dodging just popping maximum frostbolts on him in the time.

Also the mana cost is a bit too high, flask is only just enough to last until the gold closes in.

I've also tried with Hypothermia curse.

Class is Sorceress. Ascendancy is the Elemental Storms.

Here is the thing, you even have a way better time than i did, you cannot use frostbolt only for damaging as a cold spellcaster, you need to cast everything in order to do something

You will want to coldsnap the frostbolts, the damage shown by frostbolt consider it will explode on target, so its very inflated, you gotta click the arrow and see the projectile dmg only.

so what you do is... cast a frostbomb, curse, frostbolt, as soon it hits the target, coldsnap so the bolt explode dealing ONLY the snap damage, it will not stack the frostbolt explosion damage there.

repeat that until the target its dead, if you have acess to frostwall... thats where your dmg actually is frostbomb and all 3 walls, the bomb will breat the remaining walls for more dmg

if you wanna have a good time, change the element, if you`re like me, wanna make cold spells work somehow, good luck we gonna need it

I bought a freezing shards staff and that skill was able to do it if I used the curse and consistently got 5 shards from each cast to hit.

They are really trying to push combos so you better use them. That's simply the name of the game.

Also that boss is horribly badly designed and you need to understand a certain gimmick: he seems to be stronger near the lava, possibly defensively as well, so first thing I would do is try to lure him as far from the lava as possible and see if your damage increases.

It literally says empowered by molten gold under his name. Yes, he's stronger when he's touching the liquid metal.

I figured he would be, so I always fought him out of the gold asmuch as possible. Frostbolt just doesn't cut it.

is he? i never lured him out on both times i fought him, belive me when i say that frostbomb+coldsnap does a lot early on
