Here's a smack upside the head for all the whiners. THIS IS EARLY ACCESS: DEEP BREATH!

When did gaming communities get this toxic and entitled? It's always been bad, but this is ridiculous.

Let's take a deep breathe and try to have a little introspection for a moment.

THE GAME IS EARLY ACCESS: A WORK IN PROGRESS.

The BEST TIME for GGG to try wonky things, to break the game, to have some difficulty spike and explore is now.

They know the bosses are hard, they know the trade is broken, they know you don't like the honor system, they know the ascendancy quests are broken.

Gamedev takes time, not all broken elements are because of poor decision making, they're simply giving us a sneak peak despite all the systems and tuning that needs to be done long term. Not everything is so simple as making it fun out of the gate, often times systems must be left broken until other sections of the game are tightened up.

A great deal of us can agree the foundations are FANTASTIC, and that's all that matters. Because the rest will be tuned in time.

The core combat mechanics are beyond solid, the boss behaviors and routines are the best this genre has ever seen, the talent trees are exciting and invite plenty of theory crafting.

We can nitpick the balance of things, how bosses are easier the second go around, how this or that is currently broken.

But at a certain point it goes beyond useful feedback and it becomes a negative spiral that actually detracts from the enjoyment of the game.

If you WANT to hate the game, if you want to surround yourself with others who hate the game, and if you want to throw a hissy fit, you're going to hate the game, and you're going to project that entitlment and negativity on others.

You're all free to piss and moan, to kick and scream and act like entitled children. And others are free to tell you what entitled arseholes you're being.

This game is incredible, it's everything I hoped it would be from a foundational level. That said, the scaling needs a lot of work, it needs more scaling difficulty tuning, it needs more exciting items with more randomized mods that break the standard mold.

But we don't need to tell them this, because they already know this.

This game is good enough, and these devs are hospitable enough that it deserves a better community, so I figured I'd make this post that will likely die from the front page within an hour, because the 500,000 people who are enjoying the game aren't going out of their way to kick and scream.

Anyhow, just a simple gesture I figured i'd make this post to show the appreciation.

I have gotten SO MUCH enjoyment out of this game for 30 bucks already and I've only played one class so far and I'm excited to try melee and other builds in the future.

I'm also excited to see improvements to builds, balance, replayability, itemization, etc. that are all on the way!

FFS, do you not know how early in dev this game is? They've only got the core loop in and it's DOPE, it will only get better from here.

So much naysaying, so many people saying REMOVE THIS, DO THIS! DO THAT!

These guys are professional game devs that know what they're doing, demonstrably so.

LET THEM COOK.

For all you know, you'll try features you hate today today in a month and you'll enjoy them.

I know the guys at GGG at largely being showered in praise, and it's well known that these forums are a hotbed for complaining and that the general sentiment is bound to be a dumpster fire of angst and whiney entitlement from a throng of players who have no idea how the secret sauce is made.

Probably just a bunch of hot air amidst people enjoying their little circle jerk of hate, but I figured this game deserves better.

So here's one post celebrating the state of the early access, it's amazing, and I don't know what the guys at GGG are cooking up, but whatever it is, it's going to be fun to experience just as the rest of the game was.

Suppose I should end with some feedback so this thread fits this forum...

Here's some feedback for the people giving feedback: Take a deep breathe.

All inventive features in games start as miserable failures. If game developers only did what gamers knew they wanted, games would all be side scrolling platformers with rudimentary blocks.

Games become better because developers try radical and crazy new ideas. Sometimes they work out, sometimes they don't, but sometimes in that failure, secondary neat things happen. You simply don't know until you try.

It's commendable that GGG are trying zany challenges, I've even enjoyed a few runs of them! Barely beating a boss, barely escaping that orb just before you were about to die to achieve the goal, it's exciting!

It's all part of the growing pains that GGG are experiencing attempting to inject meaningful difficulty spikes while still tying the game to an RPG core with itemizations and progression that can trivialize content in so many ways.

Ok, done rambling, just wanted to try to mix it up in this forum of endless bickering and complaining and rage baiting.

(Admittedly I did do a bit of rage baiting, it's the only thing that gets engagement in this cesspool of a discussion board, so if you're an angry POE 1 player, feel free to tell me exactly how you feel about outsiders being optimistic for the future of this game and its new direction)

"This is early access" doesn't excuse bad game design.
look there goes pissfingers creating another pointless thread to bitch and cry on. Did you finally get tired of crying about trade and how it will "RUIN THE GAME" lmao

Good game design often looks like bad design until everything is online. The foundations here are fantastic.
Whining is feedback though - maybe in a bad tone, feedback nontheless.
Farming salt on the forums since 2024

Holy moly 3 minutes into making my post. Dude, you're sad and engaging with you is sad. Please stop following me around and making an ass of yourself, it's not a good look.

The game design is phenomenal. Almost every complaint is a drop rate problem. Example: 1-portal maps are too punishing. Increase waystone drop rate so you can try again faster.

Lmao that is not the solution to that specific problem. Do you think people want to delete their free time into a game that punishes them and is designed to waste their time? Nah.
No offense but this is factually the time to complain.

Though i'd prefer to replace "complain" with idk.. "Give Feedback"
Innocence forgives you

The market will determine that. There's certainly no evidence to support your level of doomerism, and plenty to support my optimism. But time will tell.
