Flash Grenade description insufficient

The description of Flash Grenade states "This explosion can Blind both Allies and Enemies."
As shown in the gem video, the explosion blinds the player, but the description of Allies states "You do not count as your own Ally."
It is not clear why I as player am blinded, when the explosion only affects Allies and Enemies and I am not my own Ally. I think I am also not my enemy.
