Trial of Sekhemas made me quit

Balatro seems like a viable entertainment option this winter.

To all the people complaining about the Trial: Relics (and specifically honor resistance on relics) are basically mandatory. Get relics, use honor resistance. The trials will feel SO much better. You NEED honor resistance the same way you NEED elemental resistances outside of the trials.
I'll admit, I haven't gotten to the higher tier Trials yet, but... I honestly found the first 2 trials to be fun, and very rewarding. So much so that I've run multiple that didn't give me Ascendancy points at all.

You don't need honor resistances, not if you're ranged.

Sanctum was a despised mechanic in PoE1 and bringing it back for a mandatory character progression requirement is absolute madness.
Its Early Access. Fix it. By fix it I mean delete Honor.
Not some half-measure like you did in that last patch.

I'm here to play Path of Exile2, not some shitty Hades clone.
Hades is fun, Sanctum is trash. Sanctum will always be trash.

The only reason people were fine with Sanctum in PoE1 is because that garbage was actually optional. Its not optional here. You think it is, but its not.

Look at the forums GGG.
Half of the posts are people screaming about how bad this shit is.
Is that what you want?

I was loving this game until I hit this point. Was hyping it to all my friends, bought a $150 controller just to no life it on PS5, I really thought I found a game I'd sink hours and hours in for years to come. I've wanted a true successor to D2 for yeaaaars!

Then I decided to try getting my Ascendacy class at lvl 30 on Warrior and hit a wall like no other. 15+ attempts now and I only manage to get from room 3 to room 7. With boss fights that are difficult I see myself improving with each new attempt...with these trials it just feels like no matter the strategy I use im not ever even close.

I've looked at guides, watched videos on how to do it, and nothing helps. It's not just that it's insanely difficult though...it's not fun at all. Who wants to play "don't get hit" when for 30 lvls that's been the gameloop? I truly don't understand this design choice. Then when you fail having to start the entire thing over is just rage inducing.

I read that they were making changes to it this patch + buffing my warriors shield/mace, so I waited to speak about it until I tried it after the patch, but it made no difference. In fact, my worst runs were after the patch. It feels like it got worse. I lost half my honor in the first room.

The difficulty of the game is one thing I truly enjoy...so I'm truly not saying to make it easy for casuals...however I think considering alternative ways players can ascend might be worth looking into. Because I know for a fact I'm never completing this damn thing...which means I'm never ascending...which means I'll just stop playing because what's the point?

Thanks for the 80hrs I've spent so far, Definitely worth my $30 already. I just think maybe I was wrong and this games not for me after all.

For the Sanctum trials the most important thing is finding relics with honor resistance (especially for melee) and a good second stat like increased max armour/life/es etc whatever aligns with your defenses. Even without the 2nd stat the honor resistance alone will make a gigantic difference. You'll find more trials so even if you don't finish them make sure you pick up all the relics that drop or trade for relics as they make the whole thing much easier.

Other than that pay close attention to what the afflictions do as some of them will brick your run like faster traps, or 40% less dmg. Sometimes you have to pick one of those mods and it sucks but if at all possible avoid them for the best chance of finishing.

That being said I'm not the biggest fan of the mechanics they chose for ascendancies. I played Sanctum league but avoided the mechanic mostly. Hopefully this changes but I kind of doubt it will since they are taking steps to adjust it based on feedback. It doesn't necessarily mean that its set in stone and could mean that they're making it more comfortable while they figure something else at but I'm assuming its here to stay.

The first floor boss is Rattlecage I think? He has a pulsing AoE that he telegraphs by standing in place and charging up for a moment. Just stay away when he does that. He'll put geysers on the ground that shoot molten projectiles. Stay away from those. Other than that, dodge his auto attacks, build up his stun meter, and boneshatter. I suggest using the basic attack for dps since it's much easier to land and doesn't lock you in place like the warrior's skills do early on before you get access to more attack and skill speed.

Trials single-handedly killed all the fun in the game for me...

Along with the last patch that nerfed warriors into oblivion, i alt+f4 for the last time and not gonna pick this game again unless they change some design philosophies.
Preface: I'm a casual player within the casual player group.

There are a number of things I could say about my test-run of PoE2. There are many things I do not enjoy, the deciding factor for me was this as well.

It's a little sad, actually, I really wanted to enjoy this game. I bailed before completing act 2.

Please keep the original running.
In this world evil will always rise to power because evil has no morals, knows no limits and has no concern or consideration for anything other than itself.
I'm honestly about at this point. Honor system is terrible. I have attempted my third ascendancy 5 times now and always die on the third floor due to honor. It isn't fun and it's even more frustrating at how long it takes as well as needing a token to even attempt the trial.
I tried 3rd ascendancy 10 times as titan lvl 76.

I have like 3,5k honour.

I reached the scorpion one time only and died after 4 hits. That run somehow i got some unbelieveable rng with boons and hammer.

The rest of the 9 runs were horrible. On Each floor 90% of rooms offered somekind of affixes, no matter what route you picked. You needed to choice from very bad to very bad * 3.

What the biggest joke is, if you are lucky and before the floor boss there is a merchant, and if you even more lucky, and by chance has enough water, you can buy immunity to the next room. For real? If rng favors you, you can yoloswag bosses.

Some on chat claims and other forums claim they do that way and selling themself as skilled players lols.

To sum up, trials are a joke in this form, you are at the mercy of the rng, no matter how good you are, if rng not favors you for 3 floors then you lost.

Looking at GGG's "vision", if they add a 3rd option for ascendancy in the future, they will also add a ton of RNG in it.

Why can't we have an ascendancy option without RNG in it?

Like POE1 Lab, if you can do it, you do it. If you can't do it, you can get better and do it.

In POE2 sanctum, if RNG gives you good boons and not awful afflictions, you can do it. If you are unlucky, you can't. Great philosophy, locking character progression behind luck and not build-equipment-skill.

Don't even let me start on ultimatum, they managed to make it worse than sanctum, that is an achievement for GGG.

Original Poster is not wrong. The Trial of Sekhemas is, by far, the worst, most annoying, most frustrating, most mind-numbingly incomprehensible thing in this game.
