Is movement speed in a good place?

You make a very good point also!

As a new player (but not really a new player - because my mind is like "This is a Diablo II clone") ...

... in my first playthrough, I'm taken in with "wow! new! cool!" so speed isn't bothering me. However, I know once everything is familiar, I'm going to be affected by exactly the problem you're describing.

In a nutshell, familiarity with this type of game is going to breed frustration ... if you know what to expect, you want reward and movement to be faster the more experienced you are. Why? Because there's nothing new for you to anticipate - you know the game already.

I'm sure it'll balance out in time, for me ... movement speed should correlate with experience and level. In other words, if you have a thousand hours in game, you should be able to whiz around - even on a new character.

That suggests speed passives that are account wide.

( I'm rambling too )

That would make sence, but I guess that is too far from the spirit of PoE after all. Though I advocate for changes here, I think your suggestion is something crucially new to the game, not neccessary in a good way.

Besides my suggestion actually affects your end-game builds as well, making you choose between high speed and more defence as you are not forced to have one of your affixes to be MS just so you can move around in maps fast enough.
