Change to arsonist and where to go from here

I'm confused about the arsonist change. I have level 29 arsonists and have been doing level 81+ maps. I've got all the defense options for them and hadn't had any issues keeping them alive until the patch. Now they are just chain dying on maps with no +damage mods.

I get losing 3 bodies will make the rest take slightly more damage, but it doesn't seem like it should be chain dying.

I've yet to try a map with a lot of +damage mods, but I'm pretty sure they will get obliterated.

I would switch to another skill except I don't have another 6 link orb because I've only found 1 in the 150+ hours i've played. Bad luck or is this intended?

Where should I go from here? Reroll deadeye?
