POE without crafting just doesn't feel the same.

Currently, the game is in such a great condition. It's EA and everything seems really smooth. The thing is, without the crafting systems, the game just doesn't feel the same to me.

I love the feeling when I can just look at an item and be like, oh I can make one of those. It could be more time consuming than just buy it off trade, but it feels good to be able to make some items that you aspire. But now, all we have is a slamfest. What we buy is no longer the knowledge and the time of the crafter, but just the luck of other players.

Some people might argue that sitting in hideouts and slamming alts or essences is just really boring, and I'll give it to them. It is boring. But there's always a boring part in every craft, like a blacksmith hammering his way on the steels, or like a knife maker sharpening his products, there's always a repetitive course of actions for every single craft. All I can do now is just luck my way through the game, or buy the luck of those who did. And that's not a very great feeling.

Yes, but crafting can be fun for people also so they had to remove it. Honestly its like they took a look at peo 1 and removed all the things people could enjoy from the game. Crafting was replaced with brain dead rng and base drops. In depth skill tree replaced with cookie cutter system that was designed to pigeon hole classes into specific builds. Skill gem system changed to limit build variety and player agency.

I think Johnathan was really telling the truth when he said the teams for the 2 games didn't communicate... it's like they forgot all the lessons learned over the past 6 years and we're playing far in the past
Crafting was the thing that set the game apart from every other game on the market. I agree that the regular leagues, the mapping and all the content were real fun in poe 1, but crafting allows a whole new level of itemization that no other game has. Funny how poe players joke about D4 itemization, saying it has no crafting and the system was too simple, and here we are with a coinflip.
Totally agree. Crafting was one of the main drivers in poe 1 and here is totally missing

Accumulating a couple of currency types and pure gambling is not fun at all.

Breach, essences erc also are disappointing
crafting is bad it completely removes any excitement there is in actually finding good loot that isnt just uniques

if floor loot is bad that's an itemization issue

Yeah, had to give in and buy items to make the gameplay fun again.

Not getting any upgrade for a whole act and none of the currency to support crafting, was not exactly fun.
Expedition is for crafting.
Use it to get 3 good mods and then just finish it with exalts.
easy bis items.
PoE nowadays looks more and more like a fan-made fork server with tons of custom weird experimental stuff rather than original game with carefully thought out balance brough live to players.

Of course this is personal preference for everyone and there will be different opinions.

But to me personally the PoE 1 crafting system is pure trash. You just spam 100 Essences or 1000 Alterations, each craft has 10 steps and basically the first thing you do is activate a lootfilter that hides every item except some white bases.

It is way to complicated for no reason and many players never really touch it for that reason. Especially new players. Ask a new player how they craft Tailwind + Elusive + Movement Speed + Life + 2 Resistances Boots.

In PoE 2 items have a use again. You check magic and rare items to see if they are a good "base" that you can use to Regal and/or Exalt. Also the Tier system in maps helps to get the better stats more easily by remove the lower tier affixes from the pool. It is very easy to understand for everybody and dropped items have a use again.
Well, PoE crafting is tad... overcomplicated? I don't think copying it 1:1 was ever considered, but that doesn't mean current system is any good.

Personally I think PoE2 "crafting" system feels bad, especially in the acts. A bad luck streak can lead to point where progress becomes excessively hard, I think lots of current loudly voiced frustration would go away if people could upgrade their gear in more predictable manner.

I think the game needs some form of actual crafting instead of current glorified slot machine, where we can get predictable results for predictable cost. Crafting bench? Harvest style crafting? Anything that's not full RNG.

This or some tweaks to SSF drop rates.

Trading is a pain and takes fun out of the game, at least for me.
