Headaches from playing this game!

Sometimes I get simulation sickness (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Motion_sickness#Simulation_sickness) from playing certain games, and I'd like to point out that this is actually the case for Path of Exile. I'm sure I'm not the only one who experiences this phenomenon, and it makes playing a very uncomfortable experience.

I think this is due to both the way the camera bobs up at times and to how close the camera is zoomed in.

Note that I am an avid gamer and have played 100s-1000s of hours in games such as Diablo 1/2/3, fast-paced FPSs (Quake 1/2/3, HL, HL2, TF2, Portal 1/2, etc.), FP-RPGs (Skyrim), StarCraft 1/2, Warcraft 1/2/3, World of Warcraft, or Ultima Online just to name a few.

Games I have trouble with are generally "Third-Person" games (especially ones with a lot of camera bobbing or reorientation) such as Battlefield 3, Mario 64, and Psychonauts.

If this issue is something you would be interested in dealing with, send me a message and I would be more than happy to provide additional feedback.

Does disabling Screen Shake improve the situation at all? Or is it more about the terrain height itself, and the camera following it as it moves?
Balance & Design
I have screen shake always disabled, and I also notice some pressure behind my brow after longer sessions. Cant say (and dont really want to test, if enabling the option will even increase the effect...)

Why do you think other games with similar viewports don't cause the problem? Is it just the camera angle and position, or is it also about character movement?
Balance & Design
Proximity of the Camera to the action in my case.

OpenGL 3D in Diablo used to get me as well, as it seemed to add more depth to the 3D.

Refresh rates of Monitors can do it also, seems like Win7 used to put the wrong refresh rate by default.

Some games when jumping off tall structures and falling that allow you to see the ground feels like Im actually falling. That always sucks.

Now I know why.

Won't have time to test much more until maybe this weekend, but it appears that disabling screen shake does help.

I generally feel like the game is a bit too zoomed in but I can't say for certain that it causes the sickness.

For me, at least, refresh rates are fine.
Hi,... I know that this is an old thread, but...

I started play Path in Dec '13. I noticed that I couldn't watch the background while I moved around in the zone. I had to focus on my character only or on the X on the map. I had the feeling that everything was just moving too fast and I was getting headaches.

I turned off the shadows and lowered the texture to medium.

This was immediately effective.

I hope this helps anyone else looking for information on this topic.
