Two separate sets skill gems for the SAME attack??????

I'm running maces and am mashing auto attack because every other skill sucks in DPS comparison. I have one mace setup for AOE damage and another one for high single target, but they BOTH USE THE MACE STRIKE BASIC ABILITY.

You're telling me that DESPITE BEING THE SAME ATTACK, and OTHER SKILL GEMS not needing to use another set of support gems for use with the other item, my BASIC MACE STRIKE needs TWO SEPARATE SETS OF GEMS (that cannot be duplicates) for each weapon?

I get it if I was using a mace and a bow or whatever and those would have separate attacks. But these are *both* "Mace Strike"???????

Let me use the same support gems ffs
