Unclear how to hide items on ground

(Sorry if this is the wrong forum)

I have game/key pickup: use highlight key, and I toggle the "toggle highlighting" key to hide items. I hide items in breaches and rituals where I don't want to be distracted so I can loot after. The problem is when my cursor passes over the item models on the ground the item text still appears briefly until the cursor leaves. I don't want to see item text ever when I toggle highlighting off, but I'm not sure how to achieve this.
