How does GGG plan to make money?

Turns out if you make a good game and don't rape players with mandatory microtransaction they are willing to support your game for pure cosmetics.
The troll forum accounts are hilarious. I am ABSOLUTELY convinced they're Blizz plants, or simply just lonely people with no life...but either way. Relatively new accounts, with no previous(Settlers) league characters and zero supporter packs all suddenly concerned with the state of GGG. Not weird at all!

I have been playing POE for the last 7 years, and I tend to buy at least a lesser amount supporter pack each league to do just that, support them. While I am not hard core, I feel I am definitely above being a casual player.

Above all other game development companies I have seen GGG go so much further in any other to be sensitive to the players frustrations and desires. When they have their league/release chats you can see how much they love the game and it is so much more then just a job.

While I definitely hope they update the prior POE 1 MTX for POE 2 I will still continue to buy additional ones as time goes on.

You have companies like blizzard that not only charge $70 for the game itself, then for any "Expansion" an additional $60, and on top of that charge an outrageous amount for their frankly, not that great MTXs.

When you compare them to GGG and POE series you can't help but want to see GGG further succeed, or your just a tightwad that likes to play his games for free.

While POE 2 definitely isn't perfect yet, the fact that it is in EA with a year to go, makes it pretty exciting as to where it is heading. They have already done 3 patches within the third week, taking care of beefs people have had with things such as Evading and teleport issues within regions. That and the balancing they are putting effort in tells me this is going to be a blast over the next year.

You mean OP?
He just asked how the game makes money
Seemed to me, from the perspective of a new player to the game

I will buy some of the stash tabs today but I’m curious as to the necessity?

Right now they give you roughly 4 different tabs to store all your loot. Seems like a good amount of space.

But the currency tabs look might fine. I’m assuming they just greatly improve QOL?

Considering that some of the current players were in diapers when I had the base number of tabs last, I was not sure how many you start with lol.

IF you start with 4, I literally only use the first screen of tabs (I think it's 7 of them). I currenty have that filled with currency/gems/unique tabs. I try to keep one of the other tabs mainly empty for transfering equipment fast easy. The others hold my flasks (not many, don't have flask tab), good rare equipment I hold onto for lower levels etc. I don't really use them all.

So starting with 4....is honestly more than enough to let you fully play the game and never spend any money at all.

I would say getting currency is REALLY nice and saves time. I was actually stating gems tab was good in PoE 2, but I'm starting to regret getting it (Even though it's so cheap). I may switch off having all my gems go to it, and just use it to store tons of extra ones, while keeping the gems I use regularly on another tab (Because it's a pain in the neck to find certain supports etc in my gem tab even though you can click on support and it's alphabetical.Id on't always remember the name of the support I'm looking for and then I have to look through ALL ofthem ugh......if I just put the ones I use in a seperate tab though, only useful gems will be there).

So yeah, currency for sure. Saves time, organizes things for you, makes crafting easier etc.

Unique isn't really needed at all, especially if you actually trade (I don't really).

Maaaaybe buy a bundle of basic ones to get you up to 7 or 8 and then make 1 premium so you can trade (I got like 4-5 premium intending to trade some day and never did).

All of that if you wait for a sale would be pretty freaking cheap (like $10?). It's not needed, but it would make end game at least more fun. With the $30 you get worth of points from EA though.....you can easily set yourself up with all the stash tabs you will ever need for both games.
GGG heavily advertises the supporter packs when they announce a new League and people are hyped. That's probably where most of the money comes from.

And then there's people like me who like the occasional MTX of course, but I'm usually sitting at 4000+ points. I didn't buy a pack bcz I wanted MTX, but because I want to support the Game. MTX are just a nice icing on the cake.

I think alot of people support GGG because of how they handled PoE in the last decade. (for better or worse)

Man lighten up. I actually wouldn't mind paying again for a full game because of how good POE2 is.

You ever heard of a saying "to good to be true"...It's hard to fathom that I paid $60 for Diablo 4 and people will be able to play this game for free when it releases.

So yea, I genuinely am not sure how a company can make money off of a F2P game.

It's just my opinion but I think people should pay at least $30 for this game because it's that good.

poe1 will probably be shut down in the near future to cut down on costs. they already pretty much abandoned it

They've already said poe1 servers cost like nothing to run so that's not going to happen. I don't care about new leagues myself; most of them looked so boring/same as the last league I skipped them anyway.
:)
People buy cosmetics and supporter packs, people love both games and will continue to support them.
