+1 Up. I cleared around and went into a fight with a rare. A cold specific rare mob is death in front of me while whole ground was snowy, there is no clue where it came but after 2-3 seconds later boom I died.

Stop being supporter packs fanboi and understand the situation. You cannot read every little tiny details on screen while all actions quickly happens in this game. There are many type of these rares, you cannot expect people know immidiately all of them at once while RNG works.
But GGG can prevent it with some Quality of Life improvements. If they care I wonder. PoE2 is just a different complexion on PoE1 I got it. It's same unimproved game.

I have a ground effect PTSD. 90%+ of my deaths are from ground effects. I am constantly looking at the ground, checking what type of mage monsters are on the map, moving constantly and backing just so I can notice the subtle purple/red ground effects. It is exhausting AF and exactly what PoE 1 is about too.

Supporter pack fan boy reporting in to agree the current state of on death effects is awful game design.

But just to expand on it, the issue is larger than just on death effects. It's that the cohesive design of map/mobs/playstle etc. all work against the 'vision' of poe2s combat.

Having the idealistic concept of slower more considered choice and timing based gameplay is great and all; but the map tile sets being so constricted, mixed with mechanics spawning in really stupid places (ritual especially), mob types and the oppressive amount of large aoe denail slams/spells, no movement skills etc. all restrict play space so much that you're almost forced onto on death effects IF you can see them at all to begin with.

Can you outplay it if you have the experience of ben/imexile? sure. It's also much less of an issue when you're strong enough to constantly be moving forwards and deleting everything ahead. But neither of those solve the problem of the game design conflicts which are especially problematic in the early mapping phase.
