Actually it's lightyears ahead of where POE1 was in its lifespan.

Bosses yes, anything else no.

Skills being weapon restricted follows suit with what they've been doing for quite a while. There was a time Witch and Shadow could melee. Ranger made a decent caster well as Chieftain. Limiting it further is no surprise. They couldn't balance PoE1 at all.

I'm not sure if you noticed but majority of the Ascendancy options do not specify much. You can pick a Monk or Merc and go literally any direction with them on the tree. There's only one perk each between Invoker and Stormweaver that actually decides if you go melee or caster.

The single Support gem I think might cause issues. Likewise your max number of skills should be per weapon set. Not in total. These are the things which are going to limit options.

What are you even talking about.

You can still make melee Witch and Shadow in Poe1 and you can do the same in Poe2.

People are playing Melee Blood Mage already or Melee Mercenary and Caster Monk.

Melee skills have had weapon requirements in Poe1 already. Same in Poe2. Spells generally do not have weapon requirements.
Yeah unless they lift literally all the restrictions and make it so anyone can use any skill as long as they meet the lvl and attribute requirements+unlimited support gem copies this game's meta will be the most bland, boring one you've ever seen.

Just you wait until the actual league launches, and everyone just plays LA Deadeye because its one of the only strong, fast and fun builds out there loooool
You are showing a lot of certainty even though the game doesn't even have half of the content available and is in standard mode.
"Gamers" nowadays have a short attention span, so they need this kind of limitations, because they can't deal with too many options, they get overwhelmed, they already can't deal with the passive tree and they cope thinking this is for the balanced of the game, which is another thing they think they like but they don't, there is a reason people like to play op builds. Fun should always comes before balance especially in a game which is primarily single player focus.

No one complained about skills not being tied to weapons in POE 1 and was fun to make unusual builds, they should have kept that way in poe 2, but instead they prefer to copy BS mechanics like sanctum and ultimatum, which almost no one likes, and tie it to ascencion trial, go figure...

I don't care about what options the game has, I want it to have more build diversity and less limitations on what you can use because then its easier for build makers to create OP builds that I can copy-paste. That's what makes this game fun to play, copying an OP build and breezing through all content and making it trivial.

Thanks for perfectly illustrating the point previous poster was making.

You know if we're really honest about it, PoE 1 only had one build. One.

The build where you get a six link, put a single skill and 5 supports on it, hold down one button, and zoop across the map.

Changing what colors fill up the screen with that build, doesn't make it a different build.

Damn, i actually agree with this. builds PLAY completely different in this game compared to poe 1 where everything just clears the whole screen in one tap

Actually we have only 12 of 36 Ascendancies available right now.
