feedback on runes & soul cores

I'm at the point in end-game where I'm buying/crafting my final items -- items i do not intend on replacing. I now have two pieces of gear without soul cores because there's multiple that could be good, but I don't want to make a permanent choice just to gamble that I'll like one over the other.

I also cannot imagine this is always going to be rule since it's so silly that runes/soul cores can't be removed or destroyed to try something else.

Please allow us to test runes/soul cores without it being a permanent choice -- some friction is good but this permanent bullshit is bad.

While previewing the changes would be nice, being able to replace the currently socketed runes/soul cores would be enough. Yes, it would "cost" something to see the difference, which I think is what GGG defines as weight.

That you have to completely brick an item by inserting the wrong rune/soul core, because it is not transparent how the changes in stats actually affect your character (e.g. +% of attribute requirement gained as Int, or % of mana), is absolutely ridiculous.

Let's not get started on how terrible farming soul cores is on SSF...
