If you think the game is hard at any point even acts, please read this (Trading)

I promise you if you take the time to read this, and apply it, your perception of the game will change drastically, from acts, to early maps, to endgame t15+1 corrupted maps if you were not trading before.

The game is about loot. The thing is, you just will not find a good piece of gear from a random drop, that is also what YOU need, but you will find items that other people need, and they will have items you need. Crafting is a waste of time for 99.99% of people in this game just like PoE 1, crafting is wholly in the realm of people like me that know every single mod in the game, every single build, what makes and item good, and how to identify items that can be made good just at a glance. It will take you hundreds to thousands of hours to reach that point, just save your exalts for now.

https://www.pathofexile.com/trade2/search/poe2/Standard
This is the official trade site. It has filters to find any item you can imagine. You can sort by any mod, with any value, by level, by attribute requirements etc. It does not take a long time to learn how to use. However like I said it does take a long time to learn what a good items is. However if you are playing a class, I don't think it is too much to ask to learn what items you should be looking for, that is exponetially easier than learning what a good item is to SELL, but you should know what is good to BUY for your class.

I'll go through an example here how to make acts completely trivial for you for just 5 exalted orbs that you will probably find by the time you reach level 30. I'll use lightning sorceress as an example.

First thing you need is a good staff. If you have bothered to learn anything about your class you'll know that + level to lightning spells is the single most important mod, followed by increased lightning/spell damage. This early that's all you need to deal a shitload of damage, every other stat is just a cherry on top, if you can find cast speed, crit, shock modifiers even better.

https://www.pathofexile.com/trade2/search/poe2/Standard/g4kBozKFQ

Bunch of great leveling staffs here, buy one for 1-2ex look for the best one you can. If the seller doesn't respond in like 10-20 seconds, whisper someone else. Do not just wait around like an idiot trading in this game is very impersonal/uncourteous don't feel like you ever have to tell someone anything. If someone responds 2 minutes later don't even bother to say sorry already bought one, you dont need to. Just get your item. You can look at the modifiers I used in that link as well. Etiquette for trading in this game is that the buyer goes to the seller's location. So when you join the party, and you are buying an item, click on the icon on their portrait in the top left and it will teleport you to them.

Now your damage is sorted out till maps/level 60.

Your playing an int based character, you will only have attributes to use pure int based gear, do not bother with hybrid ES/EVA ES/Armor, all your nodes close to starting area affect ES as well. The most important piece of armor is your chest. Look for something with a res you need some extra ES and maybe some life.

https://www.pathofexile.com/trade2/search/poe2/Standard/yypGdPehR

Bunch of good chests here for 1 ex, if fire res wasn't your lowest ele res, look for whatever is instead by changing the filter to that.

Rings/amulet/belt is another good thing to buy to get res.

https://www.pathofexile.com/trade2/search/poe2/Standard/9KdoLZQtK

Here is a metric shiton of accessories you can use at level 30, that have 40% or higher total res. In this case cold and lightning, change these to the 2 you need the most. Window shop a bit for the best item, look for life, look for other things you need. But as long as you just get the 2 res its going to help tremoundously.

So for 5 ex, you got a weapon that sets you up till maps, you got 160% increased ele resistances to make any boss that deal primarily ele damage a joke. Now instead of dodging every single ability or dying you only need to dodge some, and now instead of 2-5 minutes to kill a boss it takes 30 seconds to a minute.

Apply this to higher level gear when you get to maps, staffs start getting to +6 to spells, you start needing chaos res, you need to get better defense rolls and life on your gear. Scale this to what you can afford and upgrade your worst pieces of gear bit by bit. I promise you with good enough gear you no longer get 1 shot in ANY content in the game that isn't a boss that specifically has 1 shot instant kill no matter what mechanics. I haven't died for a long time with my gear doing corrupted t15's, was it hundreds of ex? Yes, but the fact is you can eventually get to that point where gear starts making even the hardest content comfortable to play.

Now selling items is harder, because you kinda need encyclopedic knowledge of the game and I'm not getting paid for this shit and you guys are gonna read a PHD long thesis on what makes an item good.

IF you think an item might be worth something. Put it in a premium tab that has the buyout of all items set to 1ex. IF you get more than 1 whisper within a minute, that item is worth more 100%. Take that item out of that tab and put it in a new one and set the price to 5ex, if you still get whispers increase incrementally until you dont. Leave it there for an hour, if you get a whisper sell it, if you don't lower the price. This is basically like a live auction where people are price checking the item for you, you don't need to know anything about items to do this. If an item is sitting at a price for too long, lower wait, lower wait. If an item sits in your 1ex tab for a day or 2 just trash it.

This is also why people are complaining about not getting responses from sellers, aside from some people just don't find it worth it to waste even a minute for 1ex because these are dealing with hundreds and it just isn't worth their time, sorry but that is just how things are in this game. Like I said it is very impersonal. You don't need to speak to anyone ever, the site automatically whispers the person when you click a button, the act of inviting the person is a "yes", you dont need to say TY if you don't want to.

When you are SELLING an item, people will likely be whispering multiple people at once for the same thing and just taking the first person that responds and ignoring everyone else (outside of expensive items that are 10ex+), that is how things are. So with that in mind, do not stop what you are doing if you get a whisper to buy something, inv the person, if they join, and only when they join do you stop what you are doing to trade. This stops you from wasting time playing the game. I'm imagine new players get a whisper for 1ex get excited inv the guy late he doesn't join and you just sat there for 2 minutes waiting like an idiot and hes already got the item before you invited, thats just how things are. You need to play around it.

I could go on typing for another hour but I want to play the game, I'm just tired of seeing people say the game is too hard. It's not, its a game about gear, and this is how you get it.

Congrats, you just discovered why SSF exists.
Blah
tell that to everyone saying the game is dark souls or crying about getting one shot. Too many people playing self imposed SSF in stadnard trade league or think that having to trade in acts is cringe because they didn't need to poe1.

cool ........
i made my first character a merc and went in blind , when i reached maps i hit
a wall around waystones 5 . since i made a mess and there were not any guides for my random mess , i made a new character .

i made an alt monk , i followed a guide so this time i went trough the acts ,
without to much trouble , still dying , still maps too large.

act 5,6 is where the problems started , i have not got a single exalt
to upgrade my gear or trade , and then i hit maps .
now i am stuck , on waystones 1-3 , not able to trade or upgrade anything ,
since i am dying to all mobs , and to sort my defenses i need to do my 3rd
ascend , which i cant since my character is 2 weak ,

i cant trade ,
i cant farm,
i cant ascend .
10/10 design .

Go to content you can farm, I had to go to back to act 1 cruel and farm clearfell boss over and over again for 30 minutes or so to get a few ex. Smashing you face into content that is too hard is going to be a waste of your time. Find a zone that is comfortable, small, easy access to a unique boss and farm it for a while. Or just do easy t1 waystones, progress your atlas with those looking for a citadel for the quest.

Extremely unlikely you haven't found a few ex by act 5/6, that level of bad luck is unimaginable, unbelievable even. Reminds me of the thread of the guy saying he couldn't get any waystone drops and someone found him selling them on poe market lol.

ARPGs are about grinding, since Diablo 1. All you did in D2 was farm the same boss all day long.

This isn't a cinematic 1 playthrough experience genre. These games are about grinding for power level. No one would give a shit about path of exile 1 if it was tailored like that, and gear and progression were just side aspects of playing through the campaign. It's like playing a korean MMO and expecting it to be final fantasy.

Nobody cares about farming gear. Trading is dogshit garbage. It has been for as long as PoE existed. It's worse now than ever. If your solution to a problem is "just trade", you're making the game worse, not better.
And yet you spent thousands of dollars on the game?

PoE 1 would of have died many years ago without trading. It would be like grim yawn and whatever other garbage arpgs people pretend to like lol.

And
>nobody likes trading
Thats why SSF is most of the playerbase in PoE 1 huh? Definetely not like less than 1%.

Probably like half of my 5-6k hours in PoE1 was SSF as well, It's not like I've never tried it or hate it. Its a challenge league for players that are bored with the main game and want something harder.

Oh hey, it's Pathological here to rage out on another thread. He hates this game oh so much but refuses to leave. He wants it to all be PoE1 but doesn't just go play PoE1.

Bunch of goofy children. Mad at game mechanics, then when you tell them how to alleviate issues they're having proceed to get more angry because doing so involves effort.

I didn't like D4, guess what I did, stopped playing D4. Apply that here. Although if I had to guess the only interaction you get if from doing this on forums all day...but that is a different issue entirely.
