Rapid Fire feels awful
1. Heat builds too slowly. 4 heat per second means it's going to take almost 5 seconds to hit full assuming 18 to 20 max. It should probably build based on how many shots you fire meaning attack speed affects it.
2. Heat dissipates too fast. Firing off a single grenade cost you probably two to three heat. Fine if your build is just firing off a grenade here and there, terrible if it's your main source of damage and Rapid Fire is just there to buff it. 3. It "jams" constantly. I frequently find that I hold down the button and it doesn't start the attack animation. This is separate from the lengthy windup - I've gotten a feel for how long that takes and I will notice that I'm still not attacking past the point it should have kicked in. At that point I have to let go of the button and hit it again to get it to start properly. 4. No fire damage nodes on the tree that I'm aware of. I'd like to be able to Run the obvious synergy of Rapid Fire with Gas Grenade, Oil Grenade, and Explosive Grenade, but there are no nodes on the tree that I can find that boost fire damage. I can boost ailment damage and up the ignites and I can slap Fresh Clip on the rapid fire for like 60% increased damage with basically constant uptime, and that's pretty good. But it still doesn't feel particularly great. 5. Very few sources of reduced duration. Without Explosive Shot as a detonator, I'm relying on Explosive Grenade, which have a very long timer. I can slap a fast forward on there for 30% less duration, but one of the best grenade nodes on the tree comes with 50% increased fuse duration, leaving me at over 2.6 seconds. That leaves bosses a super long time to move around and potentially avoid the grenades altogether. It feels a little bit like a microcosm of the game's issues that building around what seems like an obvious, even pushed, synergy feels so bad... Last bumped on Dec 15, 2024, 1:10:43 PM
