Maps should have 2 lives. Not 1 and not 6.
This game would be a joke if players had 6 portals, but a lot of people have been getting very frustrated about instant losses. The thing people hate most about dying tends to be when they die to something unexpected. By having 2 attempts this alleviates instantly losing a map to random bullshit, without completely trivializing content like having 6 portal uses would.

You do still lose progress and exp upon death. Closing off a ton of pathways on the giant endgame map is not intuitive at all. Shouldn't the gatekeeping of endgame bosses be the actual bosses, and not the path travelled to get there? Boss fights are the best part of POE2 by a long shot.
