Make the game more accassibile for people with arachnophobia

Agreed. Can’t make new models animations sounds rigging for alternate monsters for every phobia. Google says 7-9% fewr of dogs and 2-15% fear of spiders. personally i both dislike and am scared of dogs. I actually enjoy that I get to slay them by the pack. Leave them in please ggg

Seriously though, the idea that a game should spend development time catering to an extremely small niche just needs to disappear back into the ether. I get it, you're afraid of spiders; the onus is on you to fix (or avoid) your problem, not GGG to cater to it. I mean this in the nicest way possible, because I don't really think there is a nice way to say that this is a fundamentally narcissistic idea that shouldn't exist.

First and foremost: Arachnophobia is not an extremely small niche, it's one of the most common specific phobias. I do not think that you really get what it means to have Arachnophobia, otherwise you wouldn't be a dick about it.

Why are you a dick about it in the first place? Nobody hurt you. Nobody asked to completely remove Spiders from the game or to force a visual change. This is easily fixed by using an option under "Graphics" or maybe a new tab for something like "Accessibility", which many games do, to provide an enjoyable experience to everybody AND NOT JUST YOU.

Going around and calling people out as narcissists or for having "...fundamentally narcissistic idea.."s is just insulting and fits the description of "narcissism" alot more than the original feedback/suggestion/request.

I'd love to wish anybody else who honestly believes they have a valid point with opinions like this a nice day, like the OP did, but I just don't see why I should be friendly towards this lack of sympathy or empathy.

I don't give a shit what your opinion of me is. It takes resources away from actual issues to solve non-problems. If your arachnaphobia has reached a level where you cannot look at a very obvious fake virtual depiction of one without feeling a real need to vomit, then a. the game isn't fucking for you, and b. seek medical assistance to fix your problem.

There is an opportunity cost involved in solving this issue that isn't as simple as "hey, put a check box here". Resources need to be developed and switched out, mechanics need to be altered, and new bugs will arise. All of those have a cost associated with them, that is no longer being channeled into another part of the game that doesn't directly involve subverting the art of the game so that this person can actively avoid dealing with their own issues.

People who are afraid of heights don't go around telling pirate-ship operators "hey, would you mind if you change the ride so it spins around on the ground instead, I'm afraid of heights" - they go and find another ride or they get over their fear of heights. Expecting a game developer to develop a non-spider option instead of either fixing your fear of spiders or finding another game that suits you is the definition of narcissism. Sorry.

^along the same lines: if you have crippling phobias, how likely is it that your chosen line of work puts you in direct conflict with your phobia? Near zero?

The same is true of your chosen hobbies. The first reaction cannot be "Can't the developers add an extra mode that erases spiders?!?!?!"......it should be "Maybe I need to find a different game". Just like if you were walking through the zoo, and you CHOOSE to not go see the spider exhibit. You do NOT complain that the zoo has a spider exhibit.
Starting anew....with PoE 2
The game is rated 18. If you failed to catch that before starting the game, thats on you. The game is horror fantasy, the PEGI rating icon for horror is a frigging spider.
yeah, also make the game more friendly to pixelphobia.
Never invite Vorana, Last To Fall at a beer party.
It's quite simple too. Just remove 2 legs from every spider in the game.

A lot of people have thalassophobia , you dont see them asking GGG devs to remove River Hag from the game do you?
The problem isn't that this idea is bad or offensive, but the question is "where does it stop?"

Does GGG need to add options to change the appearance of EVERY potential mob type because there's a group of people out there scared of them?

This is probably something that's better handled individually with therapy vs. expecting the world to bend over backwards to an individual's own mental issues.

If the world bent over backwards to ensure you never had to see a spider, quite frankly you'd never have any incentive to actually deal with your phobia, instead that burden would be passed around to the rest of the world.

Sometimes we just have to solve our own problems and can't expect the world to cater to us. Maybe the desire to play PoE2 is the incentive needed to seek therapy?

Best of luck.

Reviving this because this needs to be added asap. I just bought more stash tabs and I don't mind throwing money at a game I enjoy. But this needs added before I justify spending any more money.

Hey there,

I really like PoE2 so far. After some tweaks on the skill tree, the game is really fun!
The one thing that's bothering me though was playing through the Traitor's Passage map as someone with a huge fear of spiders. It was just so much for me and even while only looking at the health bars, I almost threw up while playing. This was during my first story play and I probably would have quit if my partner didn't push me through this.

Is there any way to make these spider-like enemies less realistic or just change the texture to something less triggering?

Thank you and have a nice day.

haha. i mean i hate spiders but this is ridiculous.
Step 1 is to self reflect.
