Anyone can explain how % increase maximum Energy Shield is calculated?
My energy shield comes only from gear, nude I have 0/0.
Taking a node with 12% increased maximum energy shield, I went from 441 to 468, so 6% increase... What's happening? Last bumped on Dec 14, 2024, 3:01:09 PM

stats that are worded "increased" are additive with each other.
so if you have 100 energy shield and you take a node that gives you "10% increased energy shield" you will end up with 110 energy shield. if you take another 10% increased es node it will not now give you 11 es, it will still give you 10 es cause it adds to the other stat. so you now have 20% total increased es, giving you 120 es. so if you have 100 base es on gear, and 100% increased energy shield from nodes you will have 200 total energy shield. getting another 10% will give you 110% increased es = 210 es. thats how you can have 200 es, take 10% increased and only get an extra 10 rather than getting an extra 20 which you might have presumed from looking at the 200 and then thinking 10% of 200 is 20. anywhere in the game you see the word "increased" it means its additive with all other sources of "increase" to that stat. anywhere you see the word "more" it will be a multiplier on its own that does not add with any others. if you have 200 es in the example and then get something with "10% more energy shield" it will actually give you 20 es, not 10, its not additive with your other bonuses its mutiplicative with them. the game is very strict with this terminology so you can always tell what a node will do, how it will interact with your other stats once you know the terminology. i would assume you got other sources for "% increased ES" as well, all those global(!) sources of "increased" modifiers stack additively
so apparently you have 225 base ES from gear and 96% increased ES from whichever other sources, for 1.96 * 225 = 441 total ES that node would raise your 96% to 108%, which then would give 2.08 * 225 = 468 total ES easy |

OK I think I got it, it only applies on your base Energy Shield from stuff (not with other % applied).
From stuff I have 225 x 12 / 100 = 27 441+27=468 Thanks to myself. |

" Correct, multiplicative effects are now tagged as multitude or more. A single multitude will be additive with itself like this, but if you can get separate ones to scale the same tags they'll also be multiplicative. Idk if there are other examples in game since I'm not researching affixes, but something like slow multitude and chill multitude should multiplicatively apply to slows from chill.
