Im worried about "bad" endgame boss design.
So I happened to see one Arbiter of Ash clip where a guy with 10k "life" gets 1 shot on hes first attempt on Hardcore, not yet knowing the mechanics.
To me this is absolutely garbage design. On the other hand campaign bosses are very good, they do very reasonable damage and allow well prepared player to still beat the boss on first attempt. The reason why I think that this is garbage design because it pulls the rug from all the discovery. Now after seeing this, do I really need to pause on every boss and google its mechanics first (spoiling the entire fight) or let my Hardcore character who haven't dipped below 90% life in past 20hours, get 1 shot out of nowhere because didn't know and am not offered the chance to even learn the mechanics during the fight. I think that these kind of mechanics should not be part of the game. You absolutely should not get 1 shot just because its coded to kill anyone no matter of the defences. It makes it so that you simply cannot play the game if u don't learn every boss before you do it, and that is complete nonsense. In this case my proposed fix would be to make the mechanic faster and 2shot instead, punishing consistent bad gameplay over "first attempt". You have to allow well prepared and geared players to learn during the fight. Last bumped on Dec 14, 2024, 3:00:40 PM

Act 2 on the Jamanra fight it does it too with the sandstorm. Granted there's a chance you notice what you have to do but overall there's almost no signal, not even a voice line from Asala to call you over to her.

" I took the sandstorm to my face on first attempt, limping to safety and then next storm getting mauled by minions hiding behind the shield which I didn't see almost dying again wondering why the shield not saving me lol. I have read a lot of cases where people were able to survive it enough to learn it on the spot (like myself). That is in my mind, well designed boss behavior. Getting instagibbed by default no matter what, is garbage. Im going to assume it has "infinite" damage on Arbitor until proven otherwise. |

" All we need is a "To me Exile, quickly!" Wait is this another POE 1 lesson for poe 2? Say it aint so! One cannot help but wonder how such a lust for loot can affect a persons mind. Although these exiles appear to be our salvation, it would not take much for them to turn on us as easily as they fight gods and demons.

Honestly, it's kinda expected - oneshots of weaker builds to some unknown area attacks, I mean. Generally it's a one-time thing; then it'll be known and the player will adjust accordingly.
Ideally, these should be telegraphed properly. Practically, not a single ARPG does it properly. I mean, even some best examples (D3 generally has it done fine) still have LOTS of exceptions (looking at you, Malthael). Last edited by just_dont#6539 on Dec 14, 2024, 2:18:49 PM

" For sure except these are not the weaker builds they are the best most stacked defensive builds (made by some of the best players) getting wiped from the face of earth. |

" Are they? You said just a number - 10K (of most likely ES). That's not an amazing number for ES (one can go closer to 30K), but most importantly it's just one number that doesn't tell us much about how much compound SURVIVABILITY this player had. |

you do not need to worry about end game bad bosses because your character will be dead and no need to worry about it anymore LOL.

" I have not yet seen more than 16k which is this + Grim Feast stacked on it, why didint he have full stack at boss on that clip I do not know, but Im willing to bet he would die regardless. This guy also had all res maxed out. If you have link to someone rocking close to 30k ES let me know, might be able to take some notes. |
