An observation about diffculty, and who is asking for the game to be harder.
So, if you take a close look at who here on the Forums is very vocal about wanting the game to be more difficult, and who tells other people to 'git gud' or that its a 'skill issue' when people are criticizing the boss mob difficulties, or the trials:
In most cases (not always, but still, the majority) you dont find ANY support badge in their profile. I know you dont HAVE to display your badges, and not supporting the game financially dosnt make you a worse player or person, but, dont you think that GGG is more inclined to listen to the people who regularly dish out money to support the game, ie, the people who think that something is currently a bit off with some difficulty sliders? This is just a random observation i made and is in no way backed by any valid statistic, and i might even be very very wrong. But it FEELS to me like the ones crying for a harder game are more often than not, not investing into POE. I'm a heavy spender if I find the right game and I'm a very picky competitive/difficulty player.
They earned a lot from early access forced pack buying, I'll invest in the glowing weapon starter pack whenever I decide to deck my stash and other necessities completely out. I don't think at all you should judge players on their spending choices + the ARPG/isometric genre is fairly niche besides the handful of games like the Diablo series and POE1 (over 20+ odd years like, only a handful). I don't know why a fairly smart person would throw a ton of money, when they don't need a great sized storage yet and most are likely still doing the campaign, still on their first character and still have yet to reach end game. Customization and more should be one of the last things on their minds! (+ its not like its an incentivized party up game to show off cosmetics). When folk beat Renegade (NES). Lets talk about video games. This game is not hard in any way shape or form.

" what you also find is that most of long time supporters that are in "git gud" and "make it harder" camp are Ruthless mode players ... yknow the one with whopping 2-3k playerbase ... |

Some of the complaints, such as heavy class imbalance, Honour being disproportionately punishing for melees, inappropriate item drop levels, terrible visual clarity, fatrolling are valid and should be addressed.
Some others boil down to "I don't read anything, don't engage with any game mechanics, don't try to learn and improve, don't dodge boss AoEs, and refuse to interact with the game, but still expect to faceroll everything. I refuse to be challenged in any way, shape or form. I also don't pick up loot drops to sell / disenchant, don't craft, don't buy the random items, and still expect a full inventory of BiS items", and should be disregarded. As often, context and nuance are key. |

I agree the melee gameplay is too punishing, but why even play melee in a GGG game? They proved many times in poe 1 that they don't care about melee. I haven't played any melee build in years for this reason, took me like 3 melee builds to see how GGG is favoring ranged/caster archetypes
Not at all surprised to see that nothing changed in poe 2 "buff grenades" - Buff Grenades (Buff-Grenades) Last edited by auspexa#1404 on Dec 14, 2024, 3:37:30 AM

" "Isn't supposed to be...." Since when did we start gatekeeping what people play or what enjoyment they derive from playing? Seriously, if your own self-worth is based on how good you are at a video game then you need to seriously evaluate your own choices. I'm over 50, old, slow, and have the reactions of a dead raccoon. It took me almost 2 hours to clear the Act 1 boss - yep, I suck.. absolutely... but should I stop playing because this game isn't "meant" for me? Just because "I", and MANY other players don't have the reaction times or grasp that someone like yourself does, it doesn't mean that our time / effort / enjoyment is any less valid. Seriously, this sweaty tryhard, elitest jerk mentality and toxic "community" has to stop. It's a game FFS. Beyond the "it's too hard" there are a lot of issues that still need to be addressed with an EA product that's only been out over a week. We ALL (good / bad players alike) want a finished product that we can enjoy. Disregarding other people's issues or concerns with a "you suck" or "get good" isn't helpful. Here's a novel idea... if you're so good and say the game is easy, why not try HELPING other people or giving them tips rather than acting like some kid in a playground throwing insults around. |

" this is exactly why I've made that statement, poe 2 isn't supposed to be for you. it's clear from the systems and designs that they're targeting a different audience, after all why would they even make two games for the same audience? would you enjoy fortnite if you played it? probably not, and for the same reason. you are NOT part of the target audience. this has nothing to do with gatekeeping or being an elitist "buff grenades"
