Just tried to download the new match. I even restarted my computer. This is the error I get.
Could not overwrite executable with new patched executable. Please make sure that the PathOfExile.exe or Pathexile.tmp are not still running. If necessary, you may need to reboot your computer. I rebooted and got the same error message, Its all it says is Connecting.. then the error messages and close the window. Thanks! Last bumped on Apr 7, 2025, 6:48:50 AM

I have temporary fix for this issue. It happened to me multiple times already and fix always work.
1. Go to your install PoE folder (ex. D:\Grinding Gear Games\Path of Exile) 2. You should have two files when error occur: a) PathOfExile.exe (.exe is not in file name) b) PathOfExile.tmp (.tmp is next to file name) 3. Delete file (b) with .tmp extension and change name of (a) file or delete one letter(like me). 4. Run file (a) with changed name to create new original PoE file. 5. You can delete (a) file with changed name now or next time when error occur. 6. Game will work until not, back to point 1. when it happens again. |

The above didn't work for me.
I had to go into the PoE2 folder and delte pathofexile.exe, then rename pathofexile.tmp (this appeared after the first error) to pathofexile.exe After that I ran the pathofexile.exe and the game patched correctly, and I could launch as normal. |

did not work for me either
tried the steam version ... not playable grafic looks like 1 game from 1985 and laggy af... and i played before on the highest settings with no problems tried a new install didnt work had to use a fresh harddrive to get a new installation going .... |
