Low life builds: How do you survive chaos damage?
|
Maybe I am missing something but I feel I should point out that low life build and Righteous Fire don't really mix well. Since the damage of RF is based off your total health, low HP means low damage.
In Wraeclast, if someone tries to kill you... you just kill them right back.

I have a Low life templar thats 78 My way for dealing with Chaos dmg is to run Vitality Aura as my Life reducer as well as put on and reduce the hits I take Currently I have around 800 hp with over 2k being my max so the regen is more than enough as long as im careful and avoid multiple hits to keep me up. that 6% on low life shield might also be a reasonable alternative

" RF's most powerful feature is the ludicrously large spelldamage boost. It's so far ahead of any other caster build in terms of DPS that I'm pretty sure GGG will nerf it at some point. With Shavs, that is. I fear that when everyone gets the gear they need, every character will either be wearing Shavs or Kaoms. Last edited by aimlessgun#1443 on Apr 30, 2013, 5:55:49 PM

Chaos resistance is a good option. You might just have to stack chaos resist gear. But basically, you're being a bit silly expecting to be able to survive chaos damage on a low-life build without Shavronne's.
Face it, all of your suggestions are worse than this idea:

" Well I wish that they just hadn't made Shavs, that was the real screwup. Before, RF caster was an interesting build with great power but also huge drawbacks. Now, it's just the best caster build, unless you're in HC and want to get a bit more defense with CI at the cost of halving your DPS. Last edited by aimlessgun#1443 on Apr 30, 2013, 6:01:08 PM

" It still has pretty huge drawbacks in hardcore. You go from 11,000 ES down to maybe 8,000 ES. You lose ES faster than you regen while burning in maps with -XX resists (these come up a lot). You have to be overcapped so much with resists so you can do ele weakess otherwise you will get burned too much. You lose 2 potion slots (most likely) to use fire flasks. You can't just say to skip -XX resists and ele weakness either because it's just too many map mods to skip. You already have to skip blood magic and half regen is absolute torture (you can't really use RF at all, so you get no DPS benefit while still having lower DPS and less useful flasks). In other words after you spend like 50 exalts on gear and realize like a third of the map rolls are really bad/impossible then you can actually be viable with it as long as you play flawlessly and at full attention every second you're outside of town. It's much less OP and "best in slot" than Kaom's. Last edited by antelopesalad#2904 on Apr 30, 2013, 10:32:05 PM

" Note: Invalesco made his RF Templar on HC before Shavronne's was added to the game. Low life without Shavronne's isn't impossible. |

Its - resists + 50% regen where I start to slowly lose es. Last edited by SL4Y3R#7487 on Aug 15, 2013, 8:32:31 PM

Ye I also only degen ES on -Max res maps and half regen maps. not that its really much but can still be dangerous.
