Pain Offering bug

when i use Pain offering, it takes mana but the totem is not summoning and i dont see the icon for the buff.usually i need to spam it for like 4-5 times until it summons.there are times(rarely) that it summons properly

" Having similar issue except that I can't get it to summon at all. It uses mana, but does not go on cd or summon totem or show buff. Using Expanse and Font of Blood as supports. But i am using Persitence and Magnified effect :)
will try to remove them 1 by one too if this will work :) thanks edit : ok, i removed them one by one then both, so no supports to Pain Offering, still the same.sometime it summons, and in most cases its just using mana and nothing happens Last edited by AlexAndonov#6781 on Dec 13, 2024, 3:11:20 AM

I'm using Persistence and Expanse supports and sometimes it takes life cost and gives me the cooldown but does not put up the totem.
It wasn't until I started using the Expanse support gem ( 50% more area of effect, +6 sec cooldown) that I realized this skill was sometimes not giving me a totem. I thought I was just not getting the skill off at all. Last edited by FesterTheJester#1453 on Dec 13, 2024, 8:38:18 PM

I think it's just any support gems past the first. I've just been using one and haven't had a problem since I removed the second. Any time I put a second doesn't function properly.

Are those of you with this problem targeting a Persistent Minion? Offerings REQUIRE you to target and sacrifice a Skeletal minion to work. They do nothing without a sacrifice.

Yes, you need to target a persistent minion for the skill to work.
However, when on a controller the targeting for the skill seems have no preference whatsoever for persistent vs non persistent minions. The more non-persistent minions you have, the more likely it is to target one of those. When that happens the cast goes off, uses your mana, but does nothing. No "Pain Offering" minion is summoned. This makes the skill frustrating to use when you have non-persistent minions at best, or borderline useless at worst. The targeting of this skill on a controller needs to be a lot more generous for it to feel good. You already have very limited agency on choosing which minion to target (compared to KB/M), it should at the very least consistently actually target a valid target to make up for that. Also, I don't get why it lets you cast the skill on an invalid target. The makes the issue more confusing and frustrating than it needs to be. If you couldn't cast it without a valid target that might encourage people to read the tooltip and understand that it needs a persistent minion. |

I target on the ground and it sometimes summons the spike. And I don't see any of my summons disappearing.
