Cast on X Nerf is an L for PoE's complex build philosophy and game design

It's fine if you want to balance cast on x, but don't nerf it to the ground. It still needs to exist as a build engine/archetype and it needs to have many casts to do this. If you want to nerf the damage a little bit, fine, but don't just remove the build entirely.

Even if I am not using it now in PoE 2, cast on crit was the playstyle in PoE1 I used the most. It's what drove me to engage in the game's vast complexity.

In its current state, cast on x is *not* "perfectly useable" as some are saying. It's not "cast on x" if you only use it to proc a curse or skill cast once in a blue moon. People want to engage the game (including both bosses and common packs) in unique and different ways that may not be the expected mechanic. These circumstances should be embraced to prevent PoE 2 from becoming a "more polished but extremely restrictive" version of the first game.

An example of this was when Impending Doom support was nerfed to the ground in 3.23 league. This build was absolutely a blast to play. It's the build that got one of my friends into path of exile in 3.22. That friend went to league start it in 3.23 and promptly quit the game when it was nerfed so strongly. Take this as a lesson in toning mechanics down without destroying the fun that comes with using them.

I am having a lot of fun in PoE 2, and I think it's a fantastic work of passion and quality, but nerfs like this are a mistake you need to leave behind in PoE 1.

Current game philosophy appears to be make it as long and difficult as possible to milk all cows that are enjoying a "fresh take" , they dont need 10000 cows, only a few.

Its a disgusting game design, and even worse that they brick peoples builds first week in, you think people are going to remake characters? They may, then they will get bored in act 2 , and leave, for more active, and competitive games.

Beating up AI monsters is only so fun. Theres no variability, you can learn any fight in this game in 5 minutes of reading.

Poe 1 had PVP and a bunch of stuff to keep players engaged early on, "first to" races and Descent come to mind.

This game is a barren phone game with bad targeting/movement, low skill choice , and even worse numerical damage for the player.

This is admittedly a lot to unpack, but I will say that I agree with bricking builds completely being bad game design.
