POE 2 Ascendancy Quest Broken

I found a "Balbala's Barya" item while progressing through the campaign. It started the quest "Ascent to Power" for me to choose my ascendancy class. I found Balbala and killed her, picking up a second "Balbala's Barya". I returned to town and spoke with Shambrin, who told me to talk to Asala. However, nothing triggered with Asala. She has nothing to say about the quest.

The quest objective now is now, "Use the Desert Map to travel to the Trial of the Sekhemas". However, the map marker is not present in my Desert Map. I've traveled to different locations and logged out / in to try to refresh the map. I've looked up a screenshot to see where the map marker should be to make sure I wasn't simply missing it.

The map marker for the Trial of the Sekhemas is missing from my Desert Map. I am unable to progress in the quest and unable to choose an ascendancy class. Any help would be appreciated.'

I ran into a bug with the second time through,I think I killed her before I actually got the quest. Now it says search traitor passage, I have searched multiple times, killed her several times. Still won't progress, how do I fix this?
