Never even noticed any experience loss.

Fully agree. This is always the reason I quit a PoE League. Once in higher maps this hangs over you. Once I get past 2/3rds progress I spend the rest of the level being ultra careful or I cannot level.
Please consider the suggestions made by so many players and give us an option.
