herald of ash + shockwave totem

my shockwave totems never trigger herald of ash's effect.
i'm pretty sure it should work since "the totem is you".

herald of ash only kicks in when i boneshatter stuff. feels like a waste of spirit since i am heavily focused on totems.

am i missing something... is it intended or is it a bug?
