Trial of Chaos - softlocked at the bottom after encounter

At the start of the new room I decided to leap slam over a gap and walk to the exit door. The exit door did not open however the elevator on that side did let me go down. Once I cleared the room, standing in the middle of the elevator at the bottom did not take me back up. The first elevator that I was meant to take is also still up top as I didnt use it. This results in you softlocking your Trial of Chaos attempt.
