Staff Quality Help w/Img

What does "Quality" on staffs do? I've upgraded staff to 20% but none of the stats reflect that. When hovering over the "Quality" while holding ALT on the staff this pops up and says nothing about staffs. If it does nothing as it appears then why is the item even in the game to upgrade quality of staff?

The Quality of a staff does not directly influence base stats such as damage, attack speed, etc. What can be confusing is that Quality on staffs increases the skill associated with certain spells you use with your staff.

So there is no real way to tell how quality is actually affecting your staff? Just that it affects the implicit spell on it somehow?

ALT mouseover the spll that you get from the staff. Then click all tabs in the item description. One of the info will be what quality is improving for the skill that comes from the item.

This staff grants firebolt. increasing the staff quallity (should) give more chance to ignite on firebolt. Ive heard its bugged currently and doesnt actually do anything but i havnt tested.

It's worth noting that some items gain no benefit from improved quality. Take the ice staff for example. It gives you Freezing Shards. If you hover over Freezing Shards and hold alt, the section that tells you the quality benefits is blank.

Don't blindly waste your Gemcutter's Prisms and assume it will benefit you. Some of the things that do improve might improve in a way that does nothing for your build/playstyle.
