Foreground elements don't allow you to see

I have a complaint about foreground elements (trees, statues, cliffs, etc.) that do not disappear when getting close causing me to not be able to see my character or enemies. I've had a few deaths simply because my view is completely blocked and I didn't know there was an enemy behind it until it was too late.

Attached is a location in The Titan Grotto where this is a good example. My character can't be seen, and if there were enemies there (which there were before I died once) they are also unable to be seen.

I do play with health bars, but that shouldn't be the only way to view hidden enemies. Also, you need to have damaged them or be hovering over them to know they are there. When I initially went through this area there was a group of them where I couldn't see.

I'm unsure how the developers want to resolve something like this. Do you remove the visual all together? Do you make it opaque? Highlight things (enemies, your character, all abilities such as projectiles or ground based DoT effects, breakable objects, etc.)?

There is a map with TONS of dead trees that is a massive offender on this. It's so hard to properly see and your movement constantly gets blocked by tree trunks that you can't properly recognize through the branches.

+1. I found this was a huge problem in the ultimatum trial. And that's a very bad place to have this prob, as it's extremely dangerous there.
Statues in the Apex of Filth can really get in the way too.
Some foreground elements like big structures do vanish when you get near but it seems like a lot of smaller things like trees and statues don't and it can be really bothersome.

Oh yeah, giant tree in my face, 19 guys shooting at me. I think. I can't tell, because I GOT A FACE FULL OF LEAVES.

How about a graphics setting for ambient occlusion, where we can adjust it?
100% this--- Show outlines of characters through them OR be MUCH more aggressive culling these objects from view. I shouldn't ever have 45% of my screen covered in tree canopy.
