Creek map: mobs spawning outside map

The last rare in my Creek map was one of those big bugs, mosquito maybe.
They typically spawn outside and jump in while you traverse the edges if the map.
This last rare spawned so far outside the map edges that it will not engage.
Two of its minions did engage and their corpses can be seen in the screenshot.

The exact same thing happened to me in a mirrored layout of the same map - very replicable.

Happens to me in about 1/20 maps.
